Just buy a computer already. It's the 90s ya know?

Windows and spyware and video cards that alone cost more than my new PS5.... And after all that the shadows still are crappy, I hearJust buy a computer already. It's the 90s ya know?
I was attacked by two Corvettes firing at me and raming my ship, to make things worse I couldn't land as a player was blocking the pad.
I headed up to the surface and was attacked again on the pad, they were raming me and firing missiles
Why am I not surprised? To clarify the only large ships we had were a corvette and a beluga. Additionally afaik none of us were blocking the pad, however there was a bugged NPC that wouldn't leave the pad, might've been the issue.
Yeah we got itchy trigger fingers. At least half of us were pretty drunk so...![]()
Some Engineer Bases not returning fire on attackers ganking Ships right inside the NFZ of the Base is a very old Exploit.
It was bug-reported a >very< long time ago - and ignored as usual.

Also would like to clarify on this ^
The base was absolutely shooting at us, but because our ships are built properly it's not that big a deal, just boost away and stay out of range of the spicy shield popping lasers, and use massive amounts of hull to tank the rest of the guns. Easy! No exploits needed.
I'm pretty much the exception to every stereotype on earth, including this one. When I "grief", it's to have an unscripted engagement with another player, one who won't toast me in two seconds, because I'm just an average PvP player myself. I rarely destroy another player whom I have a clear advantage over, I'll just bring down their shields and perhaps reset their FSD to give them some thrilling gameplay, but then I'll let them go. I also tend to do most of my "griefing" in a small cheap ship. My Sidewinder is one of my favorite ships for this, as is my Viper III because it can survive the authority response and even station fire. And because the Sidewinder is cheap, I more often than not am using it to "grief" far superior ships, like two wanted FDLs just the other day. Amazingly I survived that encounter!Open griefing is akin to kids throwing rocks at cars. They see who can collect the most "tears" or salt or whatever term they are using now to describe the response they get. Then they compare notes and give each other unspoken cred for it. Those who go the extra mile even get some elevated notice by the developer. It seems like a sanctioned act these days.
The real PvP combat pilots in this game are those who look for other well known guns and battle them. Griefing at pads isn't combat. It's just a way for certain segments of the population to feel they have affected someone else's day, and maybe flip the bird at the game developers for some esoteric reason.
Good rule.Hi Cmdr's - Last night I decided to engineer a module at the Engineer in Deciat in my Anaconda, I had just jumped into the system did some fuel scooping always keeping my eyes peeled on the scanner, everything was looking good continued heading towards Farseer Inc the Engineers base, heading there is cruise then jumped into glide mode, at about 7.30km I issued a docking request, the docking computer kicked in, all of a sudden as I was about to land I was attacked by two Corvettes firing at me and raming my ship, to make things worse I couldn't land as a player was blocking the pad. There wasn't a lot I could do but log off with the 15-second allowed time. I logged back into a private group, headed back to the engineers base done the engineering on the module. I then decided to log back into open, I headed up to the surface and was attacked again on the pad, they were raming me and firing missiles. I can't understand how this can be called combat or fair play, I was a sitting duck, seems to be the engineers are becoming a hotbed for attackers. I have made a rule now I only got to the Engineers in Solo or Private Group, any comments on this? fly safe Cmdr's.
Cmdr Gunston...

Being on PS4, I play this game to fly spaceships, not to chat. When I want to chat and "collect salt", I come here to the forums![]()
Like it or not, this is the structure of ED now:
- If you like the thrill of random attacks with a probability ranging from almost zero in fringe systems to a virtual guarantee at Engineer bases, that's Open play.
- If you want to engage with like-minded players without ruining other people's game or having them ruin yours, organised or ad-hoc Private Groups are the way to go.
- For everything else, and ultimate peace and quiet, there's Solo.

Never go in Open to places that matter.
Oh... Well there, see, I am a nice guy! Then that's not griefing.
Always go to the places that matter in Open and rejoice when you achieve your objectives despite any challenges thrown your way.
Respect no one, fear no one, smile and in the worst case say "I will win next time".
Of course other modes are equally valid!
I refuse to deal with griefers and gankers and I refuse to allow them into my ED universe.
I do not mind piracy role players etc.
