Drag Munitions

I'm imagining a brave new world, where everyone has frags, seekers, and floats around deadstick. Now, if we could just get our heat weapons back, or perhaps add reverb to multicannons, we'd be all hunky dory.
There must be a cooldown for this effect, or it will dominate most PVP loadouts and make escaping a 'gank' almost impossible. If it had a 30 second cooldown it would be powerful but not OP. FRONTIER, DO NOT LEAVE THIS CHANGE FOR 3 MONTHS UNTIL IT IS FIXED. ITS A POORLY IMPLEMENTED UPDATE THAT WASN'T NECESSARY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

What do you mean "deadstick?" Drag munitions should only make a ship behave as if it had 0 pips to engines? Has it been bugged?

Do you mean ion disrupt mines? Those do actually kill engines.

The patch notes state drag will prevent you from boosting. It does not say if that replaces or is in addition to its current effect.

As I said in the patch thread: Leave drag munitions as it is now, add a boost disruptor effect for dumbfire missiles and I'd even go so far to move the drag munitions away from the fragment cannons and put them on normal cannons instead.

I simply don't understand. I don't want to understand, there is nothing to understand. Who has asked for that? And if so, how many have spoken against this suggestion? This is by far one of the dumbest things I have seen in gaming. Even in PvE this is blantly overpwoered. Ofcourse, NPCs will never get access to drag munitions, right?
Before it was permaboost and now it is never boost again?

Frontier this is stupid and I think you just humiliated yourself here. Proving that you really have no clue what's going on and how to balance things.

Ofcourse, no official statement, just arbitrary insane decision making. You must have lost your mind, I can't think of any other explaination for this.

And for everyone who didn't read the sidenote in the patchnotes:

  • "Drag Munitions" engineering modification now disables the victims boost function whilst it is active

Nah, it's just normal developer behaviour. Only a very few game studios are fully in touch with what their player base wants.

True dat, but most run test servers to see exactly how things like this can be abused or how they can imbalance things before they push it to live.

Frontier keeps pretending that this game is am MMO, yet they don't bother to implement the MMO safeguards (like permanent test servers) to prevent issues/test mechanics before they occur. I remember playing City of Heroes, and they would push 4, 5 , 6, 7 hotfixes a day to tweak things until they were just right for launch on the main servers.

Normally, Frontier have a beta test period. I'm sure I'm not the only one to be mystified as to why Frontier haven't done that this time.

People argue for ages that escaping a gank is too easy, now it's impossible. Is there no nuance anymore?

I have a of experience with the effective use of PD and ECM. Escaping will be the same as it always was. Impossible for some and dead easy for others.
