It's been a while since I did a hazres in a wing... back on my previous commander I think, but was fun. I flew a Vulture back then, variable weapons, Pulse or Burst lasers and/or Multis, and basically, knife range... Spent more type using lateral thrusters than forward. Learned to fly (or at least get back to a station and dock) without instruments back then... mostly due to having no canopy left.You should find better buddies... the HazRes guys I play(ed) with would be insulted by not helping another CMDR. And they always bring healies

I appreciate the link but I want to build a PC with a GTX 1080, i7, 16g of ram and what not. The only reason I haven't built it yet is because I'm a car guy first and a gamer second and I have a 91 MR2 turbo that I've been building for years and is an absolute money pit. It's almost done though, so I'm hoping to have my dream PC by the end of the year.

That's really strange, everyone who "ganked" me talked to me later and gave me tips, talking a lot about builds, what I did good and what bad.
It really is amazing how different those encounters can be. Worst I got was silence. Best was really good talk for 20-30 minutes afterwards.

We've been attacked three times.
1: First guy asked for a joke, we provided, ended up grouping with us and helped us earn coin.
2: Second guy murdered me and never said anything.
3: Third woman pretended to be a friend, invited me to open, but was 156ly away which is how #2 got me.
The moral of this story is never wing up with anyone more than 20 jumps away
