I get that, but my problem with these types of games (and why I compared it to Subnautica) is that when playing through, gathering resources, building bases, improving ships, repairing stuff,... it's awesome and fun... once. If you play it for the second time, it's a chore.A few friends and I have several hundred hours into Hellion and we haven't had cause to get bored yet. As early as this game is in the develpment cycle, there's more than enough gameplay there to make it a fascinating, sometimes frustrating, and always eventful experience.
The private servers are where it's at for me, although there is a single player experience too. The server my friends and I have been playing on for over 2 years has certain features (it's up to the server hosting the game exactly what can and can't be done) that drag me back in. I think the ability for the host to set up the specific rules and run the game as they see appropriate on the private server, make this game to be fair...
That's why I prefer to play these things from start to finish. It's not that I'd be worried about the lack of content, it's just that I wouldn't enjoy it as much when playing it again, later into the development.
Player-run servers and the ability to "mod" the rules and content does sound great, though. I am sure I will enjoy that when I get to it.
