The Replicated Man

@Wargfoot - if you decide to go chase Guardian modules and are short of a wing member give me a shout, I'll bring my alt...
Apparently with the new interstellar initiatives it's going to be easier to gather guardian items in the future. Interested in seeing how this pans out

Once we know what is expected in the II will determine if I bring my alt along (no Guardian kit yet) or my main account.
I know I'm an optimist, but hope that it won't just be a re-run of CG's of the past but something a little more to involve better than just a small fragment of the playing community.

To be honest, I'm not excited about Guardian equipment.
I'm already over-full with knowledge about this game and an additional shiny to chase makes my head hurt.

You guys (and gals) have so much knowledge you take for granted.
I'm like an explorer in a ganker's headlights right now.
The original ram tah mission (which I missed) paid 211 Million on completion, 'only' 111 mill when I did it last year... The guardian sites in the mission gives you loads of data scans which are needed to kit out the guardian hardware (along with other tat), some of which is actually useful...

Go for them when you are ready, for me as mainly an explorer type the FSD Booster (and SLF) made the poodling around worth it :)

I hate you with the heat of a thousands suns.
Okay, how do I start down that road and can I do it in a sexy electric green Viper MK III?

No, it'd clash with my Cobra III...

And you need a SRV, I love my little Viper III (yes, but Red) but I don't think it'd jump far with the SRV in its belly :)

Well, I just got my 5 FSD from that Farseer hag and I need to know what to do next.
I was thinking of looking up an engineer for my engines - but I don't really know for sure what to do.
My jump range is only 22ly.

Is the guardian thing a good next step?

No. Or yes.
That is more than my current ship.

Thank you, that was helpful.

What is your planned play for the next month or so?
FSD Booster can add up to 10.5Ly on range for no extra fuel cost, nice for going further, quicker :) (or putting back some range that big guns / reinforcement have added)
The Guardian SLF's are both nice to look at and can attack Thargoid ships - not tried them against 'normal ships' so...

Going out and doing the 111 million Ram Tah mission will use a few days of play time as over several systems and a lot of SRV'ing, but will also net you a goodly sum in exploration data (and might push you close to/actually Elite exploration.
Doing the Module/weapons/ships is less time consuming, but will require a bit more pillar scanning to get data. (distance is 700'ish Ly from bubble)
Best 'beginner' type ship would be a DBX with an engineered FSD and mainly lightweight modules. PD on top of ship recommended.

If you just want to get your own back on Krash, you won't need most of the Guardian stuff... Just leave us your Last Will & Testament for safekeeping if you choose that option...

It really depends on your goals. Are you trying to get to Colonia? 32ly range = about 600 jumps? I always advise noobs to engineer/upgrade defenses first. If you're staying around the bubble and want to increase defenses then I recommend engineering shields (shield gen + boosters), armor (hull + HRP), and thrusters. Indirectly this means you'll want to engineer powerplant and distributor as well.

My DBX jumps around 65Ly on a full tank, as Krash/Bigmaec say, it is great for long range trips, although fuel scooping is tedious if you've passed through a few non-scoop systems.

Seconded, Colonia is lovely - everyone should go there at least once :)

Yes.

Alright, I've been reading up on this Guardian stuff and it appears that the equipment is about the same as Engineered.
Are those guides old or is Guardian the preferred?

Also, Ram Tah is behind a couple of other engineers (locked), is this still the case?
