Player affecting factions even in Pvt and Solo

Can anyone guess what will happen if Solo and PG players are forced into Open play in order to take part in Power Play?
Keep in mind the console players without monthly subscriptions to Microsoft/Sony cannot play in Open. Solo is their only choice, so this would remove Power Play from their options.

I’m not commenting on whether or not this is important.

For my own opinion, I’m increasingly thinking that Power Play does belong to Open, as it seems an ideal way to put some purpose behind PvP. The toys you get from it seem primarily PvP focused.

By the way, effectively there is no technical possibility to force people to go Open.
ED uses TCP/IP for interactions between client and server
And it uses UDP for P2P connections between players.
So, you just:
1. Close all UDP ports (or fully prohibit UDP protocol connections) for ED in your firewall
2. Keep TCP/IP allowed for ED
3. Profit - you can launch ED in Open mode, but you will absolutely reliably never meet any player.

While this is entirely true, I would suspect most players wouldn't bother doing this, in fact most wouldn't realise they could.

But yeah, quite a few would.

I can understand bgs being for all modes even though I personally believe that CZ are the most fun when other players are involved. But ED needs some end game open only gameplay...guess which area of the game I think would be befitting of that, correct powerplay.

It really is a shame OP.

The player faction I roll with is in a war with another player faction who does nearly all of their BGS manipulation from Solo or PG. No way for us to engage directly with them. As a result, this aspect of the game is rightly referred to as "grind wars"... who can out grind the other in the BGS. What a mess.

That can be a real bummer for sure. We've had some successful fun in similar situations in the past - would be happy to discuss it via DM, if you're interested.

What problem?

- A bunch of players, coming from nowhere, just want to disrupt all your BGS efforts in a war/election/expansion, by doing action against your own minor faction, in a private group, without any chance to encounter them, asking why, start a conversation, even fight'em back if they decided to have hostile behaviors against our BGS interests ;

Our faction had multiple interactions with other player's factions in the neighborood, With the ones in open, we manage peacefully -or not- to establish a diplomatic relation each others, since years now (Up to three years now with our very first one). And with the others, always in PG/Solo, we don't have a clue who they are, and indefinitively counter their attacks, again and again, becoming a profound and infinite boredom...

- A group of players, like the "fith column" for example (and there is many other ones), radically neutronize an entire powerplay's faction situation, by undermining the main part of the bubble, without being able to identify them or prevent them from doing so ;

Are you satisfied to see all your ingame efforts being wasted by a player hidden in Solo or PG ? Without knowing who is he, and why he's doing all this against you ? Not me, and I'm not the lone, trust me...

I'm satisfied that all players have the same tools available to them to counter the actions of others in terms of the BGS. That those who prefer PvP can't force their opponents to engage in PvP is a consequence of PvP being an entirely optional extra in this game.

Success is fleeting. Don't be so attached to what you've won or accomplished. Things change. Adapt and get creative with the challenges you face!

So, you play the game 24/7 on all three platforms and have all the opposing players on your friends list?

@Zieman : As a member of a Coalition of multiple human factions, we have all the possibility to patrol the targeted system seeking for a presence of unknown/hostile players. We have players from PC, XBox and PS4. No need to be connected 24/7 and have everybody in his friendlist (and being sarcastic in the same way btw...)

@Robert Maynard : Who is talking about PvP here ? Yes, indeed, I'm a PvPer, mainly playing this game orientation and I claim it, even, but it is out of concern on this case. I'm talking about BGS, so where is the PvP here ?
I'm talking about player faction's interaction in diplomacy, communication, sharing and -yes- conflict if no solution is found between the two parts...

@Phisto Sobanii : I'm afraid to be totally unable to find any form of "creative content" while simply doing my stuff without seeing anytime my ingame opponent...

I already tried to debate of this subject peacefully with other players a long time ago, but I'm seeing that things never change.

I feel like filling the "Danaïdes' Barrel", so I will stop discussing on this forum and let the extremists between them. Receiving snide remarks from people who do not see further than the tip of their nose, or others with a stigmatizing argument does not interest me. For others, you will find me Open play, and we can talk about it during a multicrew session, or wing in a conflict zone or a Resource Extraction Site, with the drink of your choice on the desktop , in all sympathy.
Yes, PvPists need to do PvE, they need to make credits or loot material ...

No need to answer to this post, I'll not reconnect anyway.

It's implicit from the apparent requirement to restrict affecting the BGS to Open only.

.... unless a PvP-toggle is being suggested at the same time?

It makes no sense allowing PG and solo having any influence on BGS for everyone... I mean where is the logic where you can basically change everyone's galaxy while playing alone or in a PG? I can understand people want to play alone, or just don't want to PvP, that's fine. If you don't want interactions, don't interact, that means not changing someone else's(who's not in your group) galaxy.

There are quite a few problems with ED, some bugs, but this is understandable. But this issue isn't, and it's killing gameplay for many player factions.

The logic stems from the fact that it's not a game designed to be dominated by PvP.
