Thank You FDev

Oh i dont know. Once a company has too many customers and too much money there ceases to be any pressure to keep people happy. It becomes very easy to then just ignore anything you dont want to hear.
They explicitly asked us to stop being so incessantly negative because they felt increasingly demotivated by the comnunity.

Sorry, but it is absolutely daft to think anyone in a creative profession doesnt care about the reception of his work because his boss earns a lot. If you genuinely belief that you really dont seem to understand the very basics of how human beings function in reality.

Which, btw, is not an excuse for standing on the sidelines incessantly whining about creative people. Constructive criticism is one thing, but this community excels at moaning and whining and raging.

And wondering why FD doesnt talk much to us. I wonder why...

You are applying your own view onto others Stigbob. Different people assign different importance to different things. For me, I just want to be able to continue to play the game I bought if there is no good reason why it must change.

That you trivialise the issues of others does you no credit & undermines the value of your contributions, such as they are.

Isn't that you applying your view onto others ?.

I have a very hard time taking people seriously when they get genuinely upset about video games, for me they are just undermining their own credibility. Unless they are kids obviously.

For example this thread is a rare positive one thanking FDEV in contrast to all the salty rubbish we usually have. Yet its like flypaper for the disgruntled the very idea other people may be enthusiastic or having fun seems to be unreasonable to them and must be countered.

How long you willing to remain in limbo?
He said he 'wants fd to acknowledge some dont like it.' People have linked him dozens of times over literally months to direct quotes from FD where they say just that and explain why they did it anyway.

He always just shrugs, thehn within an hour pretends to never have seen the quote. Its a never-ending, and disturbingly obsessive, loop.

I've downgraded "little promise" to "no promise."

In an unrelated thread for an open source project, I was just reading how the developer is affected by negative comments.
And I came here, and read so many, many negative comments.

I love Elite Dangerous.

With the possible exception of the Half Life series, it's my most played game ever.

Most games I bought 5 years ago are long forgotten. Not ED.

It is immersive, fun, hard, frustrating, amazing, beautiful, and sounds awesome.

It has some parts that I don't like, some that I love. But to me, that demonstrates the depth of this game.

We all (and I include FDev here) wish we didn't introduce bugs - but when you're dealing with legacy software, it's a fact of life - if you want to release you can only test so much

As for changes - like the FSS, and other enhancements, sure - there may be people who liked the old way - but we all just need to suck it up and get on with it - honestly - you didn't spend THAT much on this game.

So - users out there - please, stop the negativity. Stop posting the sulky "I'm never playing again because of the honking changes" posts. and especially stop posting the sarcastic posts.

ED is a great game. The team responsible have a hard job keeping the players happy - but let's support them - let's help them. Let's be a positive community.

And if we make a suggestion, and give reasons, and it doesn't get implemented - well, let's move on with our lives rather than sniping.

So, as the subject says - thank you, Frontier Developments., for a game I love.
Yes thank you to have kill little by little one of the best game on paper.
And thank you for the hours spent testing and doing QAs!

Thank you to value our time.
Thank you to have 100 people working on the project.
And of course, thank you for having a game working as intended.

I don't do this very often but I'll viciously apply the boot to FDEV here.

If they want positivity they can start by perma-banning from the forum anyone who does nothing but threaten legal action, bash the devs, cry rivers of salt and ragequit every three days. This forum became openly hostile towards positive posters around about the time of the release of beyond (coincides with half the mods leaving IIRC probably not unrelated).

That really is their own fault.

Well no Stigbob, it isn't :D

I'm interested in the opinions of others about the game, I'm not really interested in the opinions others have about other people. You seem to be under the impression that you need to defend the meek Devs against all criticism rather than only against abuse, and you abuse other customers while doing so.

Don't get me wrong, abuse isn't okay. But what you identify as abuse has way to broad a scope to be helpful to anyone other than your own amusement.

News to me. "oh sorry we tryed but you didnt get included" is not acceptable.

At the very least they could have another look, accept that maybe they missed some people and that was wrong. All of us are paying customers.

I agree. That is the least they should do. I would also like the issue to be corrected considering how simple the solution is.

Ok fair enough, some people havnt been very nice to Fdev. It didnt start out that way tho did it? I cant speak about other issues but with the FSS people were saying "dont do it" before the thing went live. You remember before it came along? There was a community that had built up around exploration. There was a feeling of achievment. It was this little niche corner of the game and people were enjoying it. They basicly exploded it and then told us that they had included as many people as they could, which meant everybody expect the people who werent complaining as far as i can tell.

Edit: Before this apart from some moaning about C&P and having to grind combat to explore, most of my posts were along the lines of "omg this game is so great"

They killed your posting gimmick stone dead when they announced the next release and now you cant post "are we there yet" every day. Your new schtick sucks.

And if you want to know why im so salty, i was looking forward to years of exploration. Like litereally years. Now its all gone. God awful colour saturation aswell :)

The tinted skybox is great, gives different systems a different feel as I scoot about the place FSS'ing happily.

I talked to them in person at the Gamescom meet in Cologne (in August 2018). Now I'm just chasing up a refund on the LEP value not redeemed. The skins & bobbleheads were offered by way of an apology to all (I am not claiming influence on this). The needless removal of existing gameplay elements is a separate issue unrelated to the LEP one that happened with the 3.3 update in December 2018.

The bee in my bonnet over cheating in a shared online only game (Clogging, instance flipping etc) takes a distant third place now. The unaddressed issues keep building. I laid it all out in a post a while back, I'll see if I can find it.

Found it:
Important Community Update (01/03) post #989

Is this OP anything more than a bit of virtue signalling while at the same time trying to push their own opinion? Surely if you wanted to boost morale at Fdev you should write them a nice email or perhaps say sometihng nice in a live stream. Or perhaps even contact mr Braben on twitter and ask him to pass your good wishes along to the team.....
It seems to me you are trying to invalidate opinions you do not agree with :D.
