Thank You FDev

Forum posting guide for positive threads:
  1. Wherever possible include sarcasm
  2. Ensure that each sentence refers to incompetence by developers
  3. If practical within grammatic structure include sublime insults to random posters
  4. Always quote out of context - remember: an edit can remove unwanted clutter
  5. Maximum 'likes' can be farmed by the inclusion of all of the above into a simple one-line comment!

As for me, naturally I'll ignore these guidelines and do my best to be 'nice' to everyone - life's too short :)

Wait... so people working for big companies aren't people any more? What's the cutoff? At what company size does this transition occur? Are there nanoprobes and assimilation tubules involved?

I think you need to read it again, and contextually read my other posts on the topic, i'm not referring to the people but the difference in structure between a small Indie and a big AAA venture. Most Indie devs do the PR work themselves. FDev has a department for that.

I still love Elite Dangerous - and probably will as long as it exists - simply for it's life size galaxy, (y)
Far away from the bubble it's just you and the stars (and some planets but not much more).
It feels so lonley...
When you come back to the bubble after months of loneliness there is so much stuff going on at every corner.
If feels so lively... :)

DISCLAIMER
Thist post doesn't mean ther could not be tons of improvements in both aspects (loneliness and liveliness) or that these experiences are entirely bug-free... ;)

Sorry, the like was a mistype. What you are effectively saying is, that on these forums only negative and/or constructive feedback should be allowed, while you are the one judging what's actually constructive and what not. Your very own posts are all constructive and for the better of the game, of course :p
If I may ask, are you still playing?

Well im just disapointed now i must say. I was all excited and come to look and you took it back :(

No what im saying is, if you want to contribute to one of the FSS threads then do so, but dont try to frighten off the opposition by setting it up as it was in the OP.

My client is at least two patches out of date, i tend to post between missions of battletech. I shall not update in protest until the old exploration game is restored. Or at least some kind of compromise.

In an unrelated thread for an open source project, I was just reading how the developer is affected by negative comments.
And I came here, and read so many, many negative comments.

I love Elite Dangerous.

With the possible exception of the Half Life series, it's my most played game ever.

Most games I bought 5 years ago are long forgotten. Not ED.

It is immersive, fun, hard, frustrating, amazing, beautiful, and sounds awesome.

It has some parts that I don't like, some that I love. But to me, that demonstrates the depth of this game.

We all (and I include FDev here) wish we didn't introduce bugs - but when you're dealing with legacy software, it's a fact of life - if you want to release you can only test so much

As for changes - like the FSS, and other enhancements, sure - there may be people who liked the old way - but we all just need to suck it up and get on with it - honestly - you didn't spend THAT much on this game.

So - users out there - please, stop the negativity. Stop posting the sulky "I'm never playing again because of the honking changes" posts. and especially stop posting the sarcastic posts.

ED is a great game. The team responsible have a hard job keeping the players happy - but let's support them - let's help them. Let's be a positive community.

And if we make a suggestion, and give reasons, and it doesn't get implemented - well, let's move on with our lives rather than sniping.

So, as the subject says - thank you, Frontier Developments., for a game I love.

Actually if people wish to be "sulky" or post negative feedback towards a game they have invested years of their life and cash towards, then they're entitled to do just that.

Sure, some people do not keep it within reason, but ultimately it is sometimes warranted.

I partly agree, but only on behalf of the Indie dev.
FDev is a big Company and they run a tight business model,
whereas a small developer can be very much affected and demotivated by negativity,
it's not the case with AAA devs.

The notion that humans stop being affected by feedback when the company they work for becomes large is... not the brightest thing I've heared today. Its also just another "its okay to be a bunghole because [insert excuse]!" argument that is quite toxic.

As a wise man once said, sometimes you really do have to leave Britney alone.

When did playing games stop being fun and became investment instead?

They need a slap, its just internet spaceships.

You are applying your own view onto others Stigbob. Different people assign different importance to different things. For me, I just want to be able to continue to play the game I bought if there is no good reason why it must change.

That you trivialise the issues of others does you no credit & undermines the value of your contributions, such as they are.

Thing is picommander, why would a i play a game that has changed into something that i dont enjoy? I want Fdev to at the very least acknowalge that some of us are unhappy and if they do then i can decide if i have left the game permanently or not. Until that happens im left in limbo like everybody else and all i can really do is protest this in my own little way.

Besides, i doubt there are many employees who read the forums, they got Community Managers, Moderators and Voluntary Moderators for that, those are responsible for all communication management on the forums, they report to the next instance.

And after all, what's much worse than hearing complaints and negativity combined, is when nobody cares at all.
That's what hurts much more. So instead of honeydewing FDev, go and honeydew the Indie devs instead.
Frontier can put up big advertisement budgets and that's pretty much all there is to business.
I make music and a lot of other creative stuff, if i don't advertise the hell out of it, nobody will even notice. That's how the world works.

EDIT: Also the TMTK is down for a week now almost, no info, no notice, nothing, it's just not working for anyone.
Should i thank them for it? For not even taking the slightest effort to inform us with even just one little sentence?
There are bugs we reported over and over, to no avail. Again, should i go on my knees for that?
Any Indie dev acting like that would get the beating of their lifes for it. Not FDev, it just lands on deaf ears.

So you're saying i should be positive about gamebreaking bugs that we get no responses to?
Credit where credit's due, in positive and negative stance. It's called being real.

How long you willing to remain in limbo?
