If anything, guardian Initiative illustrates how useful a cargo srv would be

Tons of guardian stuff lying on the ground. 2 tons at a time. For quite a meager payout.

Frontier ! there is already salvaging gameplay which would be in dire need of an 8 ton (at least), bigger, slower, less jumpy srv.
It would be in the benefit of everyone, and the two would serve a different purpose.

I'll use the interstellar initiative as an example. Who would leave his/her ship parked on the ground in open, with all the gankers ? A cargo SRV would allow everyone to dismiss the ship, collect a dozen artifacts, call the ship and move on.
And judging by the quality of the first SRV, that would be a new toy I'd be eager to try and embark.

Currently I rather dislike any SRV gameplay....if there were different choices in what SRV's to fit and bring, I'd get a lot more out of it and probably do it more often. I completely support this idea as part of a larger expansion on SRV choices.

Why just two, more cargo and current? How about a 3rd option with 0 cargo capacity but better weapons and armour that is also heavier (both in terms of how it controls on the planets and how it effects the ship that carries)? Heck, I'm sure the community could come up with thoughts of a 4th and 5th variety even.

Saw another thread where someone suggested you be able to bring a SRV trailer to increase cargo capacity for the SRV. That'd be awesome too.

So many possibilities! Frontier, you need to get on this.

It's pretty simple, the need for different planetary vehicles;
buggy, bike, hover, tank, flier. Using the dual repeater to mine is foolish. Give us a mining laser, missiles, cannon, and and... I want an SRV tank with a Howitzer! And caterpillar wheels!
We could go on and on. But since horizons that FDevs didn't touch SRV choices. They will probably leave that for space-leg times.

Well, the reason I just evoked a cargo srv is simple : it seems to be the path of least resistance, and the more all around useful. Most combat situations can already dealt with in the current srv. And it already mines, scans, too.

But the most common thing, salvaging all these rolling cannisters you find on planet surfaces, is barely covered by the current srv. Most of the time, I don't have the patience for transferring cargo two by two, and I leave most valuables on the ground. All the other gameplay, I already did in this tiny buggy. Salvaging - no. Too much of a hassle. If there was one thing to add, it would be cargo, in my book at least.

Maybe we should hint at a tractor beam module/subsystem?

A new SRV is preferable (I don't want a tractor beam!). Though I am very happy with the current SRV. I can load up cargo pretty quickly so long as my ship is close by.

I suspect we'll get one (maybe more) eventually. But there are many other things I would like to see first (and I suspect they will arrive first, too).

Did you know that you can scoop off the planet surface using your ship? ;)
I knew, but how well you can do it depends on your ship, the terrain, the gravity… pulling the trick can take more time than actually landing - I know I tried at a guardian site after having my srv destroyed by some player.

Now I would be fine with that. Thargoid beam, reverse engineered.

It's basically killed the my desire to be involved in this interstellar initiative too much. I wanted to be doing this while poking around the ruins, but I'm just driving backwards and forwards between my ship and where stuff is.

If we're talking ideas for new srvs, I also wouldn't say no to a class 8 hanger and a base assault walker to put in it.

Next week will be different and better. I promise!

An SVR which was much bigger than the current one would require a bay as big or bigger than the ship launched fighter bay. I don't see Frontier doing any development of this scale until during or after the late 2020 release.

Frankly, given Frontier's recent track record, I don't want them to do anything right now except fix the boat load of bugs they've created in the last 10 months.

I agree, this CG is a prime example of why a Cargo SRV would be great addition.
Collecting two tonnes of cargo at a time and constantly going back n forth between your ship.
This is why I haven't really bothered doing more than 12 tonnes for this CG. It's just too dang tedious.

Yep allready posted that the tharg and guardians have tractor beams, so the II should have been for that tech and was gutted when it was leaked on live streams way before the II that that it would be another multi cannon with AX ammo...
This way instead of killing 1/3 of collector limits collecting from planets we could suck up items as we fly by... but ill still do the kill 33% of limpets instead of driving the SRV...

I'd like a trailer or a glider I could tow first.
