The FSS kind of makes supercruse handling less significant in general. I mean, you literally have to park your ship in supercruise to use it... Who thought that was a good idea? But I digress...An explorer spends the vast majority of their time (97.2%) in supercruise, so the handling is kinda important.
Since you technically only need one module to explore and FDev have recently been throwing around slots like Oprah loadout capabilities aren't a consideration any more.
The only thing left after that is the view from the cockpit and how pretty the ship looks in selfies.
Both supercruise and above world handling are still very important to me and how I care to explore, and I presently get along just fine in other ships besides the Anaconda.
I could see maybe the jump ranges of some other ships being boosted a bit to maybe have it so their portential is just beyond the Anaconda. I probably still wouldn't use them very often (DbE, and the like), but it seems fair in the sense that the Anaconda is a multi-role so shouldn't necessarily also be the best (as some equate it) explorer.
