A reminder of a Fdev promise from 10/2017

Frontier has never promised anything. In fact, they’ve gone to great lengths not to promise anything. It’s threads like this that force them into silence about anything they’re working on until after it is done.

Ah the old 'they never literally promised so it's fine to not deliver' argument. You're taking the notion too literally. They said they were coming and didn't deliver. Whether they actually said 'promise' or otherwise is completely irrelevant.

He's broken the graphics on Red Dead Redemption too.
I was gonna buy Subnautica, but Old Duck's got it.
:(
RDR2 makes ED look like a PS2 game, even after any potential graphical 'nerfs'. Subnautica does have some issues with rendering bases on PS4 (infinite draw distance, missing shadows, light passing through walls, etc.) as well as very noticeable pop-in, but man oh man is it a fun game! I wish my ships in ED were like my subs in Subnautica.

Neither game has Elephant Butt Leather / Dancing Disco Shadows (though one has nicely rendered horse butts and animal furs for harvest / trade).

All I'm saying is, based on the work I have done in process dev, app dev, project management, and marketing, I have learned that consistent, predictable, and reliable communications go a long way in customer relations. If I'm going to miss a dead line, I explain why and set a new deadline. I check in every two weeks with a short status report. I address questions with candid answers whenever I can. I don't make the customer wait until they feel compelled to ask me for details. I stay in front of their desire to know. As a result, I typically keep their business regardless of how badly (or how often) I bust a deadline.
True. To be fair though, it sounds like you are working mostly for customers who directly order specific applications from you. If your client tells you he needs a software in 6 months it's just natural that you tell him why you missed your deadline. This situation is not comparable to ED though.

Great lengths indeed. So much so, that if nothing is promised, even less is expected.

Not entirely true imho.
They don't promise much true but they do love to dangle carrots in front of our noses.
"We cant say what or when but there's something awesome coming,......late 2020. It's gonna be groundbreaking, a new Era for ED and we're very excited, but again, we can't say anything about it."

My expectations are at an all time low, imho bug fixing should be priority number one but they just ignore them, I'm afraid this whole 2020 thing will just like previous additions be a half developed feature accompanied by a whole new range of bugs.

Relevant recent CM quote:

Why is it planned in the development roadmap and not in development? I thought FD was working on fleet carriers for Beyond Ch 4 but pulled it out after they discovered some issues that couldn't be resolved, hence postponed?

Will fleet carriers and enhanced ice worlds be included in a coming QoL improvement update or in paid 2020 expansion? I hope they will be included in the former...

You're right about the carrots, but we've been getting fortune cookies- without the lottery numbers on them. :)

Won't somebody think of the poor LEP'ers , true value for money was found within.

An LEP means you will get 2 expansions literally in the course of your lifetime. Everyone knew that when they paid for it.

It will be funny if/when the 2020 update is classed as a sequel and therefore not included in the LEP. People will still be here voraciously defending it.

How it deals with the rest of your squadron of players, they are to be squadron ships not individual player ships.
At least that is what I remember from the argument focused feedback forum on them a while back.

Simple really... Right now you request docking.. if not member of associated squadron, deny docking..

None of this is difficult. Its a graphical ship/station to allow ships dock. How many, and who owns the ships is simple database logic.

I believe the difficulty if there is any, is in what players will want to do with these carriers. The same for boots on the ground. Displaying a graphical representation through a spacesuit is not all not complex, but we both know players will want weapons, then they'll want battles and leaderboards and god knows what else. Elite is and always has been a space exploration/trading game, not a FPS.. I'd much prefer to see more ships than BotG type rubbish.

That's not going to happen.
