<sigh> Should I ditch my PS4 for PC?

Have both. It’s what I did.

PS4 is an awesome console with a great library...heck, the ‘Uncharted’ series are worth the cost of admission.

Both platforms have good points and bad points. Play to their strengths.

What I will say is: given a choice, I’d play Elite on PC. And I have it on both platforms.

Me too.
Didn't transfer over from PS4, just started a fresh account on PC.
Elite is the only thing I play on PC.

I've been playing Elite for about a year on PS4. I've accumulated ranks, permits, Engineering, an Anaconda, Corvette, (other ships are available), paint jobs, and Exploration Codex data.

Yet somehow I'm made to hate my console. There are more third party tools for the pc (http://edcodex.info/?m=tools) and I would be able to use a VR headset, HOTAS, voice control etc.

Is the grass really greener on the other side?

Would FDev help me migrate to PC?

PS. I don't yet have a gaming PC, just a laptop and monitor for work. So that would need to be a factored in.

YES (think of how Samuel L. Jackson would say it) dot dot dot!!! What kind of silly question is this?!

Very similar here: I play two games, on two different PCs.

The main PC is for Elite. The second PC (hooked up to the TV) is for Trainz (model railway construction/simulator). The PS4 is for most of my other gaming.

In this case, if you are interested in VR and a variety of peripherals, then the grass is most definitely greener in the PCs' field. But it is a lot more expensive. Once you've got the first rig, though, I find that just upgrading different components each year seems the best way to keep up with current technology. The last couple of years I've only spent money on VR headsets - as my 980Ti still quite happily handles the Odyssey+. I'll probably upgrade the graphics card next year.

There is never a good time to get a PC because it's a really bad investment and it looses value a lot quicker than consoles.

But I would say you could put on a decent rig now that 1080s and Vegas are a bit more cheap. Rift S should also make the rift cheaper.

I wouldnt touch RTX cards yet, except for making minecraft and Quake2 photorealistic... And new headsets dont represent an upgrade significant enough to buy them right now.

The answer to the question is always "yes". Substituting a computer in a box for a real computer can only be wrong if the computer is really bad or you really just want to crash on your couch and play after a hard day of work.

My PC runs through my TV at the moment (my son has 'borrowed' the monitor).
Yes, usually crashed out on the couch, using a DS4.:)

All PS4 and Xbox players should throw away their consoles and switch to PC. It's a very simple equation:

3 Platforms + 3 Community + Compromises development = Ordinary buggy game

Instead:

1 Platform + 1 Community + 1 Development = BEST GAME EVER

If only it were that simple. That said, I wonder how many console users genuinely want to play ED on their console and how many, like me, do so because for whatever reason real life makes playing on the PC inconvenient and would otherwise do so.

I play both on ps4 pro I have about 800 hrs in and about two months ago I upgraded my old pc so i could join the master race, and its good dont get me wrong I got a key board and a mouse some where on the desk only use it for when I need to type in a system on the map I still use my ds4 on pc it is a wonder what the devs have done with that device. I do have head tracking now I cant fly with out it now. but I still fly more hours on ps4 its just so easy to hit power on and in game i am other than more video options there really isnt much you miss on ps4

Pros & cons either way, I'll just say this one thing & let you decide:

At 144fps a lot more of my bullets hit home than at 60fps.

Even better is when first person shooter noob devs tie the rate of fire to frames per second so players with beefy setups have a much faster rate of fire than someone running on a potatoe... not the case with ED but an interesting peice of trivia.
