Halftime update

Thanks to all you folk who came by the stand, it was great to meet you all.
It's really wonderful to get the word out to some many people at the show.
We have had a huge cross section of players, and it was awesome to see their reactions.

I must give a shout out to all the ambassadors who have volunteered their time to help out, to all the streamers for this event; but especially to all the folk at Frontier, who have managed to organise this event whilst still polishing Beta 2 for us.

Thank you all. :D

Thanks for Picking me as a winner!

Very chuffed at winning the goody bag - Elite is was and will be a great game making lasting memories!

Well done Kerrash. There's lots for everyone to be glad for. Tuesday will see another leap forward. :)

Sorry, guys, but due to unforeseen technical difficulties, my stream is off for tonight. I'll try to get it working for tomorrow if I can, but nothing tonight. Very sorry! :(

Don't forget that Dingo's on at 10 if you need your fill. :)

Is this in protest at fireytoad winning a goodie bag? ;)

Anyone who streamed 8hours+ a day deserves one for effort alone, don't think I'd have the stamina for that.

I confess to being in two minds about it. I have read most of this thread and see disgruntled posters, though mostly that relates to the scope of the "gift-a-geddon". I personally agree with them on the whole, and I do think the winners should have been picked by a FD employee rather than a member of the community - quite simply to obviate accusations of "foul play".

The way I heard about it was initially through watching OneVigor streaming iand he mentioned it repeatedly, though my impression from his comments was that it was just that you had to tweet each day with #Elite30Years in the comments to be in with a chance of winning. You could tweet as many times as you liked and a random person would be picked.

Based on that, and a few of the actual winners to date, it seems that there is another criteria for winning, as well as it isn't based on a daily poll of tweeters as Saturdays was picked first thing in the morning.

Don't get me wrong, I fully agree that the lengths the streamers go to, the work the Ambassadors have done at the show & even the moderators here, to entertain us and assist us deserves recognition, free stuff and anything else coming their way. I just think its unclear the way this "competition" is & has been working and leads to upsetting some people.

.

Really!? My impression was that you tweeted each day as many times as you wanted and the winner was picked the next day from all the tweets containing #Elite30Years. If they are picking the winner in the morning then anyone tweeting on Saturday was wasting their time and had no chance of winning. That can't right surely?

Maybe they are just picking a random tweet from all the tweets every day?

As far as I am aware, Fridays and certainly one other previous were picked in the evenings. I became concerned on eating breakfast at my PC on Saturday morning at approx 10am that Saturdays had already been picked. I too thought a winner was picked from the days tweets. I even tweeted Kerrrash (who seemed to be the one picking the names) something like "wow that was picked early" but received no response.

I can only think that as Kerrash was a show Ambassador that he had little time available on Saturday so did it early, however that makes the presumed rule to be incorrect.

Also I don't know how the rules worked with regards to the Twitch streamers. i.e were they doing the 30 years thing at the behest of Future Dev and with that in mind should they have been exempt? Like I said earlier, if you dont have clear rules and T&C's to these things then they have the potential to be abused and open to confusion and upset.

I completely believe all previous recipients should have won, certainly the Twitch streamers, and more besides, I just feel its been a poorly implemented exercise.

Just to clarify, I helped to arrange this give away in my own free time; I am a volunteer and Frontier are simply supplying the gifts and delivery here.

Due to being needed at EGX, the only way I could arrange to pick a random winner each day was using a website to do it on my personal mobile phone using 3G. I do not know how this works, it is not my site.

To that end I have to apologize for the mix up on the Saturday as I had picked two winners that day by mistake, I am sorry.

I just wanted to help do something nice for the community, I am sorry it has upset so many people. :(

Go, sit into the corner!

:D

Honestly, screw ups happen. However I enjoyed various streams and chatter, and news from EGX. You are doing good work, keep it up! :)

I don't think anyone is upset with you Kerrash, I think the general feeling is that Frontier should have handled the giveaways. I don't think it's fair to expect a private individual to do something like that in their own time, possibly at their own expense and especially if they are also working as an ambassador.

In which case I offer my sincere apologies. I had thought that it was organised by Future Developments. Doing something personal for the community in your own time with your own resources is totally different and deserves credit and thanks. I think a lot of people just seem to have not known that.

By the way, I saw you & everyone else working your guts off yesterday
