Please add ship integrity repair to the repair all button

Just for curiosity... if you forgot about it, then how much did the repairing cost?

And once again, mates, please, don't take the part of repair times as serious. It was a foolish joke on my part, and I probably didn't post it correctly and gave the wrong idea. Sorry for that. ( Hey, but it's a good way to incite people to post, ain't it? )

Hey that's no problem, sometimes forum users can take other peoples posts a little to seriously. People say things should take time because immersion, other people complain about the length of time it takes to travel through hyperspace and call it a time sink, it all evens out in the end. ;)

After years of playing this game I can't remember ever coming across this integrity option, so thanks OP for that!

Thinking about it, repairs do generally seem a lot cheaper than back in the day so hiding this option in the sub menu explains that element.

I guess my ignorance of this mechanic shows how little real difference it's made to my combat capabilities.

Hey, shouldn't these repairs take some time? At least 5 minutes to repair 90% hull? It would be a hidrance to PvP wing support schemes like "low-wake, repair and return to the fight while the wingman is stalling the target". I vote for adding time lag for repairs, refuel, and rearm.

Cheers

Thanks for bringing that up!

YES, the game needs a realistic mode for all those players who constantly clamor for it!

How can you load, paint, refuel, repair, and reconfigure HUGE ships, all under a second?

Super Silly, and Super Unrealistic!

Then, once we have the new "realistic" mode with all those added timers, well then maybe, just maybe we can get instant ship, module, and commander transfers for the normal "have fun" mode!

You know, to go along with the instant loading of 800 Tons of cargo. Or instant painting of a battleship sized spaceship, etc.

One can always dream lol...

Except that's not what happening, the people who are against instant ship, module and commander transfers are also against your "realistic mode", so you are just throwing out a straw man. People are against instant ship, module and commander transfers are against them because you are changing the core mechanics of the game, after all why even bother having space ship in the future if you can just teleport anywhere you want to go? It's a space ship flying game, you need to integrate your play style with that in mind, not decide you don't like flying a space ship after all and demand instant teleport everywhere.

See that's how you do a proper straw man!

Repair all is a good idea.

5 minute repair time is too long...

But I'd be quite happy with a short progress bar for all 3 options that takes maybe 5-10 seconds to complete, but can all run at the same time, with some sound effects to looping for it.
Maybe even a HUD display showing your weapon ammo count increasing, and fuel, and repair ticking up. So it's more or less instant, but looks more immersive.

If you have strong, but damaged shields, it can take a minute for the station to fully charge them anyway.

I think the ship integrity thing was an approach to the required airplane maintenance schedules. Airplanes record their flying time, and just like cars, despite the visual noticed and software appointed repairs, a lot of parts of an airplane must be checked out and/or replaced after a certain amount of flight hours. Airplanes are damn expensive things!
Even tiny screws must be checked periodically, and the engines and wings above all else.

I remember in one of my detachments in St-Tome Island, the engineer spotted a little crack in one of the turbo-propeller fans. He decided to file it and check how deep the crack was, and the damn thing stretched almost to the fan's root! We had to remove the whole fan set, and ask for a new replacement to come. And that was one military detachment turned into 1 week holidays time. XD

^This guy gets it. Integrity repair is not supposed to be some OCD thing that must be clicked on after every dock. It is supposed to reflect ship and aircraft borescope inspection maintenance in reality.

As far as aircraft are concerned it is the equivalent of a D check, this has nothing to do with regular maintenance that is performed on an aircraft or ship. D-Checks are for identifying micro fractures that build up over prolonged use, on a ship it is due to hull stresses from flexing due to years at sea, on an aircraft it is due to hull stress from pressurisation and depressurisation over many cycles, In ED hull stresses and fractures weaken the hull from time spent in supercruise.

In reality, the stresses will eventually lead to a catastrophic hull failure, this wouldn't work in ED, ships would be severally limited, voyages like distant world would be impossible. The devs provided us with a safety net, maximum hull degradation is capped at 70% with 0% integrity. It is really of no concern to anyone except high level PvP & PvE combat cmdrs looking to keep ships constantly in pristine condition before heading into battle.

Imo the devs should do a few things -

A. Massively decrease the rate at which the hull degrades, this is a game that is meant to be played out over years, in reality D-checks are carried out roughly every 6 months or after a certain number of cycles.

B. Actually explain what the intergrity check is for, in detail, no need to hide it's function.

C.Make the failures catastrophic if a Cmdr does not maintain the ship, but not after a 1+ hour trip in SC to hutton orbital, after prolonged use over 6 months to a year, even then you may only see small micro fractures depending on how careful you have been with the ship.

D. Give cmdrs the ability the perform repairs when out in deep space, either through EVA, or internal checks when we can walk around our ships.
