I used to hate the jumps and supercruise time. I learned over time that the jumps can be reduced since the bubble is really like many smaller bubbles inside of one big bubble, inside of the galaxy. That means the deals, mining, bounty hunting, etc.. that you find in region A will likely exist as well in region B. This is true unless you are doing power play where you have a few specific systems to fortify or undermine or control or whatever you're doing. So you don't really need to jump all the time, just for engineering and some crazy mission stuff.
When I started out, I wanted the instances. I wanted to shoot ships, to fly in normal space where stuff was, to be at the station without all the repetitive actions. That's because I saw the space aspect of the game as a time sink only. I didn't see it as adding to the feeling of being in a large system. Currently I am in Colonia, 22K LY from the bubble. It seems a long way from the bubble because it takes some time to get here. In the past few years that time has been significantly decreased by power creep, better FSDs, add on Guardian modules, supercharging and of course engineering the magical zero mass hull of the anaconda along with synthesizing FSD premium ranges using jumponium. Even with all of that, it's a commitment to set out for Colonia. If you only play a couple hours a day, or even every few days, it could take you a few days to get across. So even though I've been playing the game for years, I still feel like I am a long way from the bubble, the star field is different, it feels different being here. If I could just get here by going to a ferry and logging off, that would eventually remove the "different" feeling of being here. I used to get the same feeling in Maia, when it was relatively hard to get to because FSD jump ranges were smaller.
There are still times you want to just be there and stop "going" there. That last few 100Ls is mind numbing sometimes, the drone of the ship and the repetitive sheet metal bending sounds that seem to never end. Finally you drop into your instance and you can feel like you just waited 30 minutes to actually load the game. Eventually, if you get around enough and get involved in enough stuff, that time will mean something more than loading time to an instance.
