You Lied.

Full kudos to you for your post admitting you were 'had' !

If you mix and match your combat, with some in AX CZs shooting scouts (assuming your ship is armed and shielded appropriately) and elsewhere shooting regular ships, your Triple Elite will come "sooner than you think." :)

what for? triple elite? you are already manyfold elite in this community, dude. it's just a freaking decal!
Only a decal? It's gold shimmering resplendance on the front of a ship. I wear mine with pride ! ;)

It was in a thread where someone was talking about hitting a NHSS but when you get the radio call for “Thargoid Insinkerator Incoming” you run out to 20km away. The Insidious doesn’t spawn and you can farm Scouts until the cows come home.

There was a bit of discussion about that, but no-one paid any attention to the poster who mentioned scavengers.

Neither sounded less plausible, and I’ve had experience with NHSS and shot a couple of scavengers.

I’m sort of looking to fast track my Combat rank. Historically my playstyle is that I only work for the good of the Alliance. Nothing for myself. And that’s worked out pretty well actually.

Problem for me is that I’ve set myself a goal of being Triple Elite when the Alliance governs a Thousand Systems.

That’s looking like September and I’m only Deadly +32% (made Deadly last November).

Anyway - I guess it’s back to killing Feds for me.
68% to go.
That’s like 30 plus wars.

I feel how my avatar looks.

fair enough, and i'm sure you earned (earnt?) it but it's really too easy to exploit. kinda looses much of its shine.

being around for years contributing value and humor just can't be faked. that's truth.

Triple Elite isn’t about the decal.

It’s about maintaining credibility.

I’m a repetitive old bore, but to be part of the furniture on this forum, you need to have the appropriate amount of game rank and experience. To have played this long and NOT be Triple Elite is kind of uh, a bit lame actually.

Sometimes I think the Devs don’t interact as much here, because their game rank is so shabby.

I can be funny about Elite, but I need to be good at it too.

Welp.
I can't find the post.

But.
You got me.
You lied.
I believed you.
I spent four sessions of multiple hours chasing it.
aaaand it was a lie.

Like they say in the big city: "If it sounds too good to be true, it is."

Well, it was kind of a cheesy exploit anyways.

So hat's off to you.

NO - I did no go to Hutton Orbital for a free Anaconda.
No.

I did, however rig a ship with AFMU and Toxic Cargo rack and go and get a Thargoid Sensor and travel all over the shop.
And I did go to an active Thargoid site.
And open the door with the Thargoid Sensor.
And I did (to my shame) kill about oh say uh let's call it an even hunned (100) Thargoid Scavengers.

So I HAVE maxed out the mats you can get from Scavengers. Harmless little things that they are.

But I have not moved my combat rank a single percent towards Elite.

So either Frontier thought that giving Scavengers Elite rank as a target was actually cheesy.

OR

I was sucked in, chewed up, spat out, stepped on, scraped off.

Well done whoever posted that as an exploit.

There is only one way forward, CMDR DNA-Decay. Attack every Commander you see. Slay them all. Leave none alive.

Become... murderhobo.

I only ever put mine on a ship once.
I took off, went collecting mat's and for the entire time I felt like one of those nobbers who puts their Porsche keyring (for their Toyota) on the bar every time they go into a pub'.:cautious:
Got back to a station and felt much better after swapping back to "Mostly Aimless" - which pretty much says it all about the way I play ED. :p

Well I'm glad it wasn't me. lol. 😌 The three most effective combat rank grinding activities according to my observations (and I have been observing recently, having hit my combat elite in the CZs last week /takesabow ) would be 1) Thargoid Scouts, 2) High CZs and 3) Compromised Nav Beacons. I know you know that, I'm just posting it for the thread.

P.S. I'm pleased to say that there is still no exploit for combat rank. One cannot obtain Elite ranking without killing literally thousands of NPCs and it therefore does still count for something. Long may it stay that way FD.

You used to just farm the re-spawning sidewinder at Lave station for Lave Radio or wherever it was as it was Elite. A lot of the old original combat Elites did that I heard.

Oh man I hit that thing so many times.
And encouraged others to do likewise “as a fast track to Elite.”

But the reality is that you get more murder off the cops that spawn in after the first hit. Plus you could usually pick up an LRN target before you got out to the sidewinder.

Murder was the thing that counted, not the rank.

But even before Frontier took the Orange Sidewinder out of the game for their friends, Diplomatic Corps HQ called a stop to the Lave action.

AEDC stick to their word.

So it wouldn’t be a viable path to fast track Elite even if it was still in-game.

The elite ranks are a personal challenge because they don't result in any advantage. They do confirm a sort of commitment to the game.

I've killed tens of thousands NPCs over the years in my bounty hunter guise.

As Napoleon said, "A soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of ribbon".

Just a DECAL!!!

Stone the heretic.

Edit: OP I trust you have remembered to sack every crew you have ever hired.

My understanding is the the pilots federation cannot assign a kill value to an alien and our ranks come from the PF. Sure they score big, and some of them are tough as nails, much more so than even a wing of elite NPCs, but no rank increase.
