Is Notoriety useful for something?

Hello! I've been sending security service pilots in their escapes pods to their respective home stations, but is there any reason to do it, apart from just rising your notoriety and getting bounties on your head? I mean, is there any point at all in being a bad guy with NPC's? Maybe some players might find funny to kill other players and stuff, but even in that way, is there any goal apart from it?

I'd like to know if there's any special reason to play this role, because I don't seem to get the point in doing these things, the game just make it annoying, more than a rewarding gameplay.

I've been playing for a while doing this, and I don't seem to find any reason to keep doing it, it just makes the game a little more boring because there is no actual rewarding to this playstyle... maybe? I don't know, I haven't been years in the game like some and maybe I'm missing out something...

I've reached almost 15millions in bounty and notoriety 10, but what happens in the game if you keep doing this? Just this? Or there are consequences apart from getting ganked all the time by NPC security wings?

Hope you understand what I'm trying to ask, my english is not the best, and my explanation skills are far worse.

Your rebuy goes up, and up, and up until you let your notoriety drop to zero and pay it off at an Interstellar Factors.

It is part of the C&P system. Hope you read about it.
If you get scanned at a station controlled by the faction that have you wanted, you will get killed asap by the station guns.
Eventually you will get ATR wing on you and you'll get killed

Also if you keep doin that in the same system, you will eventually affect the BGS in that system

I understand this... But what's the point?Just ruin the game for yourself and be bored because you can't do anything afterwards? apart from no gaining anything, it's not like there are stations that offer special stuff for criminals, or something that you get only if you attain certain notoriety or something...

I see no point or reward or anything in this... Am I the only one?... It's like they added a bounty system just to annoy people and forgot to program the other half of the thing....

(as a PVE'er) I fly around with notoriety half the time. Part of my playstyle and how I affect the local systems I live in. Having notoriety doesn't stop me from doing anything in my daily businesses, as long as you know what you can and can't do. Being wanted with a faction doesn't stop you from landing at their station, and a scan is easily avoided.
If anything, I wish FD made C&P even more consequential

I've been running in anarchy systems for days now after getting +10 notoriety. I get the premise of the mechanic I just wish it didn't have such a long drawn out delay on decay. I get wanting people to log in, stay logged in, play longer; this would be accomplished better by simply creating more effective ways to engage the content rather than slowing everything down to a snails pace. At this point i am stuck waiting many hours until this decays enough for me to pay off the bounty I'm currently under.
I started my run this last week to get resources and have spent more time watching those resources simply decay and disappear because I cannot get to them fast enough. its like we either fight one ship at a time and get 1 or 2 resources, or fight many ships continuously and get none. Why is there a timer on these resources? what purpose does that serve but to inhibit the player and make the grind even longer than it already is. If the games content is fun, engaging, interesting you won't need to slow the player down and frustrate gameplay to keep us engaged. Personally I think this crime and punishment mechanic needs some reworking as well as other elements of the game.
Interdictions are frustrating because when I fly in to a system to find a target they are always facing me, no matter what I do that ship is always facing me racing trying to position behind me until I finally submit. Why are players not able to interdict a bounty target or kill target? The only time I've been able to interdict a ship is when I have no missions and randomly choose one flying around a system...what is the point of this module? Grind for the sake of grind does not make a more interesting and entertaining experience it just makes things take far longer than they need to and frustrates the person doing it. you want us to play/stay longer Fdev, make it more interesting and entertaining, not just grind.

It's an annoyance designed to make you stay on the lawful side.
A minor one indeed.
Also i guess it is partly designed to make it harder to get a system into lockdown

Stop killing cops, and generally speaking non-wanted ships, and you will not be bothered by the notoriety.

I would had made it way harsher... but the CMDRs that (role)play the criminals will have an outcry.

I don't know why you kill Authority ships. It seems you think it should be a purpose in itself.

Generally, when you do, you negatively affect security state of a ruling faction, which is Background Simulation thing and someone could probably explain it better.
If you're not into BGS, then killing cops just for fun is pointless.
You can be f.ex a pirate, steal cargo from traders and deal with police as effect of your actions, but there's no such thing as killing cops = being famous bad guy = bonus cryminal content.

Destroying authority ships is a very useful tool in BGS work. You can damage the influence of the controlling authority as well as lower their security state. The latter can lead to Civil Unrest and Lockdown states.

If you'll recall during the struggle in Lave a few months back that caused heartache due to shutting down the supply of Lavian Brandy. Good example of the kinds of effects it can have on the game.

I love the idea, of pirate based in anarchy systems which only allow higher than 1 notoriety in.

Addition pirate only missions, better ones the higher your notoriety

Yes, as far as I can tell it is designed to deter emergent combat interaction between like-minded players - aka good clean fun - while making not a jot of difference to the ganking community, who will - like life - always find a way because killing players is their raison d'etre.

NB: A special thanks to my phone for attempting to make me look like I was educated by Del Boy - "raisin d'etre"

It's almost as if notoriety wasn't ever intended to "solve" ganking. Hmm.

Also if you play the BGS, destroying a factions ships is the best way to drop their influence on the system. Drop in, kill their ships, then do missions for the faction you want to help, in a few days there will be a war, and you may get to take over a base.
