The Hero Of Canton

No it doesn’t stroke one’s ego, or feed an attention craving, which is probably one of the reasons we don’t have this in game.

The other would be to discourage anyone from cheating/botting to ‘win’ their 15 seconds of fame.
But we DO have this in the game, but for NEGATIVE behavior - the Top Bounties list!

As for cheating / botting, once you use that as an excuse for not introducing new features, you might as well make ED a single-player game. Either that or a PS4 exclusive ;)

And yes, I want my ego stroked and my attention cravings fed - guilty as charged! (Though you'll not find my name in Sol or Deciat, but some backwater system that nobody visits, LOL.)

I'm supposed to be a King in the Imperial whateveritis.

I can be flying though Achenar with wings of Imperial security ships flying through the system and nobody bats an eyelid when I get interdicted there.

Unless I'm mistaken, there's absolutely no benefit to naval rank outside of the ability to spend your credits on their ships and get a slightly more cordial welcome at stations.

Seems like there's plenty of scope for improvement there.

That’s what an honorary title is. Do you think any enlisted personnel ever saluted “Colonel” Sanders? No one’s ever stood at attention for General Idea either.

That’s just where we differ - I’d much rather pull the strings of those who pull the strings of those who pull the strings, from behind the scenes, in the shadows, masked by masks of obscurity and anonymity, and watch things take shape and play out exactly as planned and act just as shocked and surprised as everyone else, than have a target painted on my back.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_Colonel

"Kentucky Colonel is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Commissions for Kentucky colonels are given by the governor and the secretary of state to individuals in recognition of noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to a community, state, or the nation."

Pretty sure that level of honor has it's advantages.

Yep, you get your parking validated at the courthouse.

It’s like being Canonized as a Saint, without having to die first.

If the faction who so honour you go to war, do their enemies see you as a target?

Could you in fact become most honoured in another faction by destroying the enemy's hero?

I think you could. Don't give any meaningful rewards for killing a hero - otherwise you'd get a significant part of the community not wanting to help a faction for fear of making themselves a target - but I feel it would be reasonable for a piratey or miltaristic faction to honour those who, like Paris, took down Achilles.

I really like the idea, but I'm not sure if devs are interested in it. I'm still new but some of the older commanders say that there were once plans for a "karma" system but it was officially dropped.

I also wonder what's the point of rescuing that pilot that runs out of gas or it is heavily damaged beyond the humanitarian aspect of helping a pilot that doesn't really exist. I have done it 4 or 5 times but I don't receive credits, nor a new mission, nor a material, heck, not even they say "thanks", they just fly to their CZ even before the repair limpet has finished repairing their ship.

Does it have an effect on the BGS? PP? Serious question.

Man, I would cuss all day at General Electric if I ever see him. And don't get me started about that damn General Motors.

I think you would do well as a fuel rat, credits are fairly easy to get mining VO's.
Good luck CMDR, tis a worthy game despite the (sometimes cool) bugs!
