How to avoid Gankers.

I have 3 strategies when being ganked.....
1) Flying a ship tough enough to make anyone sweat.
2) Flying a ship so dammed fast that they never get a chance.
3) Don`t be there

Ultimately after playing for a long time I tend to not give a dam as I have enough money to buy hundreds of ships so who cares. If it makes them happy then I have brought some light to their day. If I blow them up then I hope they see it as an occupational hazard.

That is why we have modes - FDev have given everyone the option to play in the way they prefer, just select the mode best suited to whatever you wish to do at the time.

Yadda yadda. Heard it all before. It's shoddy game development to allow ganking to exist as it does. I don't work in that industry but know a few guys that do...for a very succesful development firm. They have all concurred it's a shocking state to allow it to exist as it does in ED. I'm not interested in hearing excuses. FDev haven't addressed a problem other online games deal with perfectly competently. It's not surprising, they seem to struggle with some fairly basic aspects of how to make a video game.

Imagine having a game where two out of three of its modes allow you to sidestep PvP adversity completely and still whining that it doesn't do enough to hold your hand against the Bad People.

Yes yes..I get it. You're a real tough guy. It's a video game. Stop thinking it proves your masculinity or otherwise. The implementation of the open experience is rubbish, pure and simple. Most gankers are overweight weirdo beta males who get a little tingle downstairs from online bullying. If they want person on person combat, do it consensually. If they want to assert their masculinity, they should join a boxing club. I did.

That wasn't a wise decision. Head injuries lead to lack of insight and poor judgement.

Have you told your "few guys" that work for a "successful development firm" that FDEV have repeatedly condoned attacking players for any reason or no reason at all in Open Play?

This part of Open Play isn't a mistake. It's intentional.

Minor correction about gankers here: more than a few are highly intelligent, sexually successful people that enjoy exploring the political aspects of terrorism through the medium of play. It's pretty cool there's a game out there that implicitly condones this!

Regarding consent, that's called "clicking Open Play at the menu."

You forgot the sarcasm "/s"

Not going to point out the irony in this response.. Oh wait I just did..

Why not try shooting back? Most PvP players/Gankers/Greifers are people just trying to have fun in thier game. Sure some of them are catastrophic jeb ends but the majority are not.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." - Albert Einstein

It's really easy to hide in solo or in a PG and be a forum warrior...

So you only box in solo mode as well, huh?

The hilarious thing to me is that in boxing you consent to being boxed when you agree to fight and enter the ring. That's why you can't sue the other guy for injuring you during the normal course of a bout.

In Elite, that's the same thing as clicking "Open Play." It even tells you on the screen that you could encounter other Commanders using this mode. The advertising makes it very clear that the Elite: Dangerous universe is full of peril. Your ship has defenses. It has guns. There are frame shift drive interdictors that are used to, and I quote, "pull targets out of supercruise." You have ways to improve all of these things through the Engineers.

If this somehow flies over your head until the first time you are destroyed by a NPC or player then you should obviously realize your error and adjust.

But no. Let's keep on with the silly arguments because...

I think the last shreds of any guilt I'd feel about shooting another player has just gone dribbling down the plug hole.

...they are the best recruiter for PvP we have!

Yes but I believe it would be unsporting (at least) to throw a kid into the ring with no gloves or gum shield against Mike Tyson and his mates who then proceed to unleash their full force on him because...he got in the ring.’

It's quite unsporting to say the least to demonise a group of players simply because thier definition of fun is different to yours. Escaping ganks has been discussed ad infinitum on these forums and there has been enough input from people who are doing the ganking on how to avoid it, odds are they are the players that know the solutions the best as it's thier line of work.

People need to pay more attention to what they are being told.

If you roll up on a CG in open, with a shieldless minmaxed T9 stuffed to the gills with cargo you are inviting trouble. Hell even NPC's will sink it faster than you can say abracadabra. Let alone a player.

Decorum seems to be missing in a lot of the ED playerbase.
