Cobra Mk 4: open it up for everyone to buy this Xmas during Special Effect Livestream

Or they 'might' just want to give, for a good cause; not for what they will be getting in exchange, for themselves. That is the point of genuine charity.

Or maybe you offer something that more people might want, a semi useless curio ship that everyone thinks is so amazing, yet sits under a pile of dust.

If everything was pure charity, you would not need a livestream at all.

Goose-stepping? Is that how you are comparing the owners this time? You really sure about that, or do you think that may be a little extreme, even for your own, salt throwing antics?

Well how else do you respond to "pure backers"?

I like it. Best solution that could be bulletproof get. You should join the strategy team of something.

Why stop there? Why not give away a free conda or python?

The cobra mk4 is an anaconda in small size. Really anything extra is throwing the baby out.

That's just emotional blackmail. For an event that does not, at this time, exist.

I don't think so. For the cobra 4 any offering (regardless of the disguise to pacify certain people, likely white knights) would be a direct single minded purchase. Nothing else going on there.

i'd actually prefer frontier to act like a professional game developer and, dunno, maybe release a bugfix patch, rather than this pathetic and somewhat despicable attention ing with charities, but what should i know. i'm probably a monster (and already have the c4).

good morning y'all!

Good morning.

Just checking: you do know the original post was a suggestion from Rubbernuke, not something FDev had announced they were actually doing?

I don't get what the problem is. Have we reached "forever"? Who cares!
I have several CM4s, and they're ok for module storage I guess, but I don't fly them 'cos they're pants. Some folk attach value to having 1 of each ship-type, and I can see that being denied that curious goal must be vexing. I don't need an exclusive ship to feel special, I already know that I'm special. (yes, 'cos my Mum told me I am).

Maybe detractors of RubberNuke's idea just want to be able to fly the CM4 to show people who can't fly it that they are the special ones, because their Mum's forgot to tell them that they're also special. Take it from me, we're all special. (Also, none of us are special (ref: Fight Club))

A wonderful Idea Rubber! as you say those who need it get the help they need. to make this system beneficial to players who join over the next few years this charity event could be annual. meaning once a year everyone gets a chance at it...forever!

I would personally make it 8-10 Pounds though (here that's 16-20 AUD) which is much larger without being remotely outrageous of the ship. so long as this does not become a exploit for FDev to sell ships exclusively in the future. Just the MK4

hehe, came up with a new charity for it.... "The Mark 4 Change!!!" :D

Lot's of people commited financially to the game before it existed. They in fact made the game a reality.
Some people commited to an addon also and they got access to the mk4.
It's exclusive, do you have one?

Er- before the hypothetical livestream it would be exclusive. During the livestream you could buy it. Hence, "exclusivity to be used as leverage in a meaningful way".

But then it would no longer be exclusive, once you open it up to players other than the players it was promised to as an exclusive extra it's no longer exclusive. You haven't leveraged it's exclusiveness, you've removed it's value to the orginal purchasers who should then be refunded the money they spent.

Its exclusive now. The livestream would allow you to get it. After the livestream its less exclusive than it was. Its not that hard to understand? How much 'worth' is in a ship anyway?
