Okay, I've given it another go (I usually do after each big update) and I have to say I'm quite enjoying it this time around. Spent last two days playing mostly this.
I didn't try VR, mainly because I'm lazy and I don't want to re-learn controls and naturally I didn't try multiplayer, because it's not my "thing". (I've noticed some other players at the Anomaly, which I reckon is a matchmaking hub, now)
I'm really enjoying it.
I agree with Viajero that the grind is the game, in this case, as it is in all survival/crafting games, but it doesn't feel grindy as long as you know what you're grinding and where, which, in some cases, the game has trouble conveying to you, though.
For example I need the Storm Crystal, I know I should look on a planet with extreme conditions, but so far, unless I really need to drill the damn thing completely through, I have no idea how to find it. Which is frustrating and DOES feel grindy.
Other than that, I have to say I keep getting impressed by HG and their dedication to make this game work at which they have pretty much succeeded at this point.
