The game has, from the outset, been designed to permit every player to affect the single shared galaxy state, regardless of game mode (and, subsequently, platform). PvP is, of course, possible in two of the three game modes - but remains an optional feature, just like other players are.

Frontier's stance on this has not changed in over six years.

So we have one carrier and three types of support vessels. One for combat, mining and exploration. Not seen any for trading yet. At first I thought the exploration support vessel was a station, looks great.

I think the assets we're seeing are the front bit of the fleet carriers. we're not getting support ships along with the fleet carrier.

So they're changing the front fuselage of the carrier. It wasn't clear in the video but the forum thread makes it a little clearer.
 
we do need some elaboration on that, but I assume you'll have access to the commodities market of the system you're in somehow.

We need elaboration on loads of stuff. As always the devil is in the details; if it only exists when the owner is online, if it costs 100 billion, if it requires hundred hours of grinding per jump, if there is no shipyard/outfitting: there are many hurdles to take..
 
There was never a plan ?? There was a discussion post regarding PP open only, never saw anything that included BGS in that - more a lot of wishful thinking posts
yes i know, i just put bgs in that same content about worries the solo influence, but the talk about changes was about pp, even that would have been better than none. Alltough both of those are know problems and widely talked among bgs and pp players. Everything is wishful thinking, even what you eat in dinner before it happens

My only not yet asked question at this time: Are the avalaible pads also the limit of ships it can carry, or is there internal capacity for more ? I see I can in any case store all 8 of my big toys, but my 12 mediums and 5 smalls are currently crying a bit. I will have to think about selling some. Keeping medium ships around that copy roles of large ones seems pointless now.

I'm wondering what, if any, mechanic will allow Solo commanders to get multiple ships docked in their carrier.

You fly a ship from a station to a carrier. How then do you get back to the station to fetch a second ship from the shipyard? Disposable shuttles?

Or will the carrier have a ship transfer mechanism that can only fetch ships from shipyards in the current system?
 
Exclusive Carrier Price Hint

I have it officially, from the community event in Collogne which I just attened and straight from "the horses mouth" so to speak, that the carrier will cost less than 42 Billion. It will probably cost more than one billion although that's not for sure. This is about as accurate as it gets right now I presume. Maybe you're on the safe side with 20 billion or so. That would be my wild guess, can't say for sure.

My gut feeling right now with the different carrier configurations is that you'll be able to purchase modules within the carrier for that configuration, and/or extra functionality that would be found at stations.

So, Trading Carrier would have cargo racks for sale. Maybe it could have all market data collected by ships docked at that carrier?
Pirate Carrier will have Interdictors and Cargo Scanners for sale.
Exploration Carrier would have DSS for sale, maybe you could hand in exploration data at one?
Mercenary Carrier would have weapons for sale
etc etc.
