Best Guess on How much for the Fleet Carrier will cost

This thread puts the price at between Cr 500 m and Cr 10 b. So right now the answer is anybody's guess :)

What we know for sure is it is going to be a large amount cos FD has already said so and, given the existing game mechanics, there is likely to be an upgrade path that will cost much more than the base purchase price. It is also reasonable to assume it is an "end game" item like the 'Vette currently is.

So my best guess:
  • Cr 2 b base model.
  • Top navy rank.
  • Maybe some other special qualifying tasks to unlock (like engineers).
Don't think there will be a triple elite requirement as this will simply put it out of reach for most players and disincentivize (if there is such a word) casual players who are not really interested in putting time in some areas of the game just to gain elite3 status.
I hope you're right on the ranks- need a reason to keep going.

Hey, news is sparse and far between releases. We have to do something in the mean time.

That's exactly the reason why I'm not speculating about things we can't know till they're announced. Instead I'm mining like a madman with an espresso machine in case it turns out that I want one.

For those who think that price will be around 500m - have you even checked the price of Cutter's Reactive armor?

Having in mind currently possible ways of earning big money I think they will cost around 5 bill at least.

Makes no sense to have an upgrade on your game alienate the bigger part of your playerbase. Which is what would probably happen if the carrier's price was too high.

I think it will be a lot cheaper than the maxed out version, so that many can get a basic carrier, but you'd need to seriously grind to upgrade it..

I think around 10 to 15 Billion. It is so easy to collect a billion in a day. I just did it after restarting an account.

It was easy. Start from a Sidewinder to Python in a day and a billion credits to boot.

But was it FUN?

If I roll up my sleeves, pull off my socks, furrow my brow, stock up on drinks, and recycle the bottles in unmentionable ways, I can turn a hard 650m/hr, but it sucks, it's a lot of work, and I don't enjoy doing it. It just can be done.

I really don't think, and I hope the Devs agree, that the cost should be based on the niche ways of earning lots of credits in a short time. I have VO mined, earned about 400 million in a couple runs but I stopped when it started feeling repetitive and I don't have much urge to pick it up again. I don't do things in this game just to earn credits, I do it to have fun. If FC's cost some of the ridiculous numbers suggested then I will never own one, which would be a shame because I would like to dabble with them.

If the Carrier came out before 3.3, then I could see it being 2-3 Billion. As mentioned already, with core mining, it's going to be a lot higher than that. It's too bad I've been wasting my time exploring since 3.3 and still haven't touched the new mining. I'd thing it would be in the range of 5 billion on the low end and over 10 billion on the mid to high end...

2 Bil is achievable within a single weekend. 10 bil is achievable withing a couple of weeks.

They SHOULD be expensive, not the price of a cutter fully outfitted.

If it’s on the same scale as the ship outfitting, then base will be 1-2 bil, and fully upgraded could be north of 10.

A billion credits is still a ton of cash to spend on one thing/ be tied up in one asset.

I don’t get how a 10-15 billion base cost is fun/good for the game/ makes sense in universe.

I wasn't estimating on the scale of ship outfitting. I get the impression these will be different.

A billion a day! You all know something I don't, I made my first billion last month(started back in April) upgraded two ships and still haven't made it back to 1 bil yet.
If it is going to cost as much as some think I won't even try- but I will destroy everyone of them I see.

What on Arexack makes you think that FD want "the average player" to own one? They're the much-asked-for "end-game content". Top 10% of players, at most. Preferably top 1%. They should be incredibly rare. Seeing one should make you go "Wow!", not "Oh no, not another one".

I'm not top 10%. I've got 4 billion credits in the bank, and there's no way I should be able to afford one, not for another decade or so.
I just went over six hundred million in cash, and I've been playing since December 2014.

Many players switch careers. Some take very long breaks. Frontier has to take that into account as well, if they want to keep player retention up.

Long version: We have no clue.

Being a ship tinkerer, long before engineering, I've run through several hundred ships, just for fun. Coriolis kinda ruined things for me. :)

Then, engineering took time and money. And wasted earnings potential.

My reason for a carrier would be to take it to my best First Discovered system, far enough outside the bubble to be useful, and park it as a convenience store. Since they are indestructible, I could park it in open. Then everyone would find it useful. This is as close to "player agency" as I think Frontier will allow us before 2020.

Unlikely I will be able to run up the cash as fast as others can. I'm playing a game, not (totally) working a second job. I'm thinking late next year, at the earliest.

They're indestructible.

My guess, plucked out of the air: 10 billion. It needs to be semi-achievable, but also be so mountainous to the average player to be almost not worth it. This is Frontier, after all... 😁
