I do some wordplay with my family name. I was afraid of privacy at first, but really, because of my job I am pretty public anyway. So yeah, why not play and have a unique name.

My questions regarding the franchise name:
1) As apparently it represents us online, will it have to be unique like commander names in Elite: Dangerous?
2) Will we be able to change the name after we created the franchise or will it be as difficult as in ED (contacting support and having a good reason)?

I see that we can trade animals between our own zoos in franchise mode, but what if we're not playing in franchise mode?
So if you don't have internet access, or if this game is not supported any more in 10 years, then we won't be able to get any more genetic diversity in our zoos because of not being able to trade? Please tell me there's a way to get more genetic diversity outside of franchise mode without depending on an online exchange.

The streams from Gamescom show players buying different animals to fill their habitats with, and they were playing a beta unscripted version of the first career mode.
This article here also mentions:
"you can fill that world with the most amazing animals" - sandbox mode
"Each Scenario has its own unique challenges, determined by the continent you're in, the biome you're utilising, the weather, the temperature, and of course animal availability." - career mode
Both the sandbox and the career mode are offline modes. Buying animals for genetic diversity won't be a problem.
Apparently, it's an open Animal Market online. It isn't on Steam Workshop like blueprints. I don't think there will be a way to sell directly or denote special prices for certain people. I'm hoping that we at least get to know the franchise name of the people we buy from and sell to, to allow us to build a reputation. I guess we'll find out on Tuesday! I'm pretty hyped!
They have said that he Animal Market is wiped, any game saves are wiped, I'm assuming that franchise names will be wiped as well. The only thing that may stay are blueprints but they have said that those may have to be wiped before offical launch as well.
There is a chance but no guarantees - it depends on if they have to change something between beta and official launch that will affect blueprints.
Yes that's why I was wondering.. I'm unsure wether the franchise name will be tied to the game or to steam for example. And if naming has to be unique, so no duplicates possible in the worldwide community.
