[Video] Open letter from community to Elite Dangerous

Yes, one compliments the other. Sandros uncapped undermining means that systems can become undermined regardless if the opposition is 100% ahead (which is not as much as it seems sometimes). If you could tip the balance through a support action (that might be also countered in some way- I suggested having illegal passenger spies as a smuggling challenge to lower these CG totals) then that would bring everyone together, at least IMO anyway.

It would also be a great avenue for Powerplay players to earn some money. New players could then do solo missions in a PP context, build rank and then if they wanted go out and try the other half.

A later and as yet unrefined version of that is you extend it more- in that solo players in Powerplay haul as much as they can to a depot (i.e. they replace the 30 minute allocation) and open players grab a portion of that and run the gauntlet so to speak against each other. But, unless solo players move the materials they won't be available in Open.
Something similar could also be done for general BGS if it works with PP.

More because they knew what they were buying. Similar to trying to get people to suddenly pay a subscription for a game five years post launch.
Not sure if you are trolling, if you read the post I am talking about using the engine to create a DIFFERENT GAME, one that people can CHOOSE to subscribe to, without losing anything in ED.

So what does that have to do with the scattershot impolite demanding counterproductive petition ?.

Everything. My point is we are asking for different things and you cant build a game where one group wants to be only in open and the other does not.
I am not trying to take anything away from anyone, I am asking we stop pretending it is something that can be done.
I agree with you in many ways and do not think anyone should lose anything, I also agree it wasn't in the original brief. I want to actually pay more money for the pleasure of that being a reality. You would get a monthly cash stream to frontier that they can use for development that can also be used for original ED as they share an engine (albeit with aforementioned network changes)
We are both old enough to realize that life is a compromise but you canny change the laws of physics captain.
Anyone on these forums knows that the open only situation is one of our biggest divisions, asking FDev to make us both happy is like asking for a 12 inch screen you can fit in your pocket.
Lets also remember that every other online game also has to deal with hackers and cheaters, they just seem to be able to do it better.

A sequel to ED would likely happen after this games lifetime which isn't over yet, they'd also probably go with the shared BGS and modes again since the spaceship customer base is a fairly niche one. Moving away from it would reduce the potential customer base.

For me the open only situation is pure pebcak, which is the reason I've never once bothered posting in Hotel California. Its an argument not worth having as the issue simply isn't the game. Personally I like mode choice, its one of the things I checked we had prior to buying in (along with the block function). Without it I wouldn't have got the game.

FDEV do deal with cheats, hackers and griefers they are just far too nice to name and shame so you can miss it. The info's out there on it if you look.

I don't expect you to believe that I am one of 18 people who no longer play but FDev have the means to verify, that means just in my little sphere alone they will not get any more of our money in its current form.
Not out of protest, just because for those who want open only it is too frustrating to play and as you have rightly said if you are not enjoying it why play it?

The most frustrating thing is it is not even about being in open only, it is %100 about 5C.

FDev could fix most of it tomorrow by just preventing a player from doing anything in PP that negatively affects your chosen power, but they haven't and doubt they will.
5C is the same as griefing and cheating as far as most PP players are concerned, and FDev refuse to fix it, despite asking for feedback multiple times over the years.
You can choose not to care about me and my 17 friends and Kek knows how many others, but that is short sighted because FDev are a business and the more players ED has the better it will be.
These forums have died, reddit has died, I don't mean doom I mean anyone being honest can not say there is even %10 of the posts there used to be on either site, so something has changed, whether you would like to care or not.
The easiest thing would be just code the game so you can not negatively affect a power from within, or split us from the solo pg guys and just give us two different instances, or even keep open and create "open PP" that has its own instance and bgs so that they are only adding and not taking anything from anyone.

Anything would be better than nothing, and that is all they have done for a long time.

So at page 100, just wondering if anyone seriously thought frontier would take an online petition seriously..? No one takes those seriously.

Steam reviews are interesting though.. people who put to shame my little 2k play time are coming out the woodwork and leaving thumbs down.. and the thing that everyone is repeating in 2019 is elite “used to be good”.

My monies on that having more of a chance than those feel better petitions.

I'm not convinced altering course on one of their flagship franchises is a good idea based on 18 people deciding not to buy upcoming DLC after already buying the game, plus one DLC and a fair few paints between you.

I'd guess you are all thousand hours players so you've certainly had your moneys worth.

Yet open is the busiest I've ever seen it, the player numbers haven't dipped on steam and last time I heard ED subreddit visitor numbers were actually up.

Not bad at all for a five year old game, there'll be a huge upswing with the next DLC that will slowly tail off and the preditions of doom will continue throughout.

People start, stop and return to video games all the time its just not a big deal. Except for a few of the individuals involved.

They got review bombed on steam before, it'll be the same furious saddo's who want their own way this time as well.

Anyone with 1000+ hours played leaving a "not recommended" steam review just makes themselves look very very slow on the uptake.

Open and close panel 4 to clear the softlock.

Edit : works as a solution on PC

Just as quick point of clarity. If using a workaround to get past a bug is ok, is it also ok to use a workaround that might also give you an advantage? Just clarifying.

Since you never actually bought ED, I can't be bothered discussing game specifics with you.

Grats.

What do you think made frontier remove credit progression from the game? I was shocked since once you got your head around it everything in elite made sense. It was only it being non obvious at first glance. I think that was my slogan for years.. so many things in elite got killed when there was another option of just education.

Anyway those pink ribbons arent going to deliver themselves.

Not at all! When Fdev spoils the game in whatever way and point blank refuses to listen then encouraging others not to spend money is pretty much the only place left to turn. Its very simple cause and effect, treat people badly they will vent in the review section. Why should we try to advertise this game when its clearly gone off the rails?
