For those who Deliberately Did Not Sign the Open Letter/Petition - Why Not?

Most of what I'm seeing can be summed up as "it doesn't say exactly what I want so I won't sign it, even if I agree with most of it!". This is a textbook example of letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. Overwhelming community solidarity might have actually gotten something done. It's a shame.

You'll never get community solidarity by tearfully demanding your own way, most people just point and laugh. Launched a few forum memes though, so not all wasted.

I don't believe that to be an accurate summation at all.

This is one of the reasons I didn't sign the petition. In addition, I can't get behind a group of players who:
1. Effectively are pushing people away from the game with their playstyle (ganking noobs), which damages the playerbase, and consequently the future of the game. Also, pushing people into solo and private groups (then ganking them there), reducing the fun of open for everyone else.
2. Have been caught cheating (more than once), didn't report the exploits they discovered to FD, then cried like children when they lost their modules and credits
3. Use a brand of language in the game and discord servers that is, let's just say 'distasteful', especially if you're handicapped or disabled in any way
4. Told us themselves not to trust them!

Whilst I agree with many of the complaints these players have, and am in no doubt they understand the game extremely well, I'd prefer it if people who conduct themselves in this way (trolls) were neither representing me, nor the community. Thanks.

you know Im well known around these parts for having a big mouth, say what I feel style attitude. Almost 100% against frontier. But this, what you posted is just so wrong.

I'd like to address your points if I may;

1. While you may not like it, while I may not like and I'm sure the noobs don't like it, it is irrelevant to topic at hand. The real question is fo you agree with the sentiments expressed by the authors. You're is a classic example of playing the person and not the topic.

2. The G1/G5 exploit? Hate to break it to ya mate but frontier were told about that in beta and they ignored it. They were them told again during the first week of release, and it was said to be working as intended. So again, it's irrelevant.

3. Use a brand of language? What!? Seriously? I assume Yamiks? Yamiks uses the language to attract a certain audience. he is successful at it. Seriously even if not him or whatever, using 'brand of language' as a reason for anything in 2019 is just classic snowflake syndrome. Totally irrelevant.

4. Again irrelevant. The question is do you agree with their issues?

So to boil this all down, you don't/won't support their petition because you don't like them, regardless the topics/issues at hand.

I respect your choice of course, but the reasoning leaves me baffled. At I least I was honest. I didn't;t sign their petition because ...

1. Couldn't be bothered getting behind anything to do with Frontier.
2. I don't trust Frontier Developments as far as I can see them.
3. They have a boilerplate response for everything.
4. No matter what they say, I don't believe them. My honest to god analysis of Frontier is they are at best incompetent, at worst wilfully negligible.

As for the petition, Since then, Zac has apparently met them in private and had a discussion. Any other company worth it's salt would have dedicated an open and honest discussion with anyone that wanted to attend and given frank and honest answers.

This skulking around in the dark in secret tells me all I need to know about this company.

Not very good at it then are they?

Why aren't they fixing them so?
Why do we still have the same bugs we had last year?
Why do they continually introduce new bugs?

So what you're saying here is that Fdev don't test and they don't need anyone else to test. Are you sure you're not a FDev employee? That sounds exactly like frontier.

Well I hate to throw a reality check on you but here goes. Either you are right, or you are wrong.

Either they know and are willfully ignoring, which would equate to incompetence... or
They don't know. Which would as you say, make them stupid.

How do you know they will be fixed? I know of bugs still here after years.

So please, don't come laying down your theories and claiming them as facts.
I don't know any answer to any of your questions because I am not a Frontier employee, and no matter how frustrated you are about your shiny game not working right, it's not your place to demand anything.

I also don't know why Frontier is not more open with the whole development process, but I remember the forum being on fire when they started being more open...
One reason I could imagine is, that some people are not particularly good at extracting information from written text, or deliberately get things wrong because they need a reason to complain. Some people just want to watch the forum burn. Or the devs. Both doesn't help the game in any way. Neither does applying pressure.

In the end we are playing a game. We are not citizens of some unjust state (maybe we are, but that's not on Frontier), we got no claim on the people who make the game.
That's all Frontier does: developing a G A M E.

The whole “We gained a private meeting with FDev,” is pants. This petition/open letter/power trip was driven by people who earn money creating things out of thin air for YouTube etc. It’s not reflective of the majority of players’ concerns or experiences, in my opinion.
I bet they absolutely loved the ‘private meeting’. It would have really floated their egos.
As I said before, Elite is a good game. I like it a lot. I just wish that the community wouldn’t try to communicate to FDev using the mouthpieces of self-appointed ‘leaders’ who profit (sometimes financially...patreon anyone....) from any perceived chaos or drama surrounding the game. If there is none, well, maybe they make some up now and again.
’Private meeting...’ hahahaha awesome. I bet they felt powerful and alive...

Little bit confused with the entire 'private meeting with FDEV' thing.
  1. Did FD flying (pay for transport) all the signatories of the letter or just meet with those that were local?
  2. Were all the signatories present or just some select few, a sub-set of the group?
  3. If so, was that group authorised by the original signatories to speak on their behalf?
  4. Were there an records keep of the meeting or are we, the great unwashed, suppose to accept on face fault that what has been reported is a fair and accurate account of what transpired?

Zod on a bike!! Get a freaking grip, what is wrong with you lot??? I typed a long comment but deleted it as it was stupid, I would suggest you all do the same.

FDEV employee says they'll perform basic role function "Influencers" claim total victory.

I successfully bought a pasty yesterday, it was very nice but I didn't feel special at all.

I took objection to those content creators and community members assuming they speak for me and my community. They don't. I don't agree with all their points and thought their letter solved absolutely nothing concrete that any of us care about.

Their request for a permanent test server is neither reasonable nor a good allocation of frontier resources. All that will accomplish is that the same voices get even more steer and say over the direction of the game: I don't necessarily share that direction and again they don't speak for us.

I'd rather see frontier check with the wider community for feedback. We likely want different things from the game than the aforementioned group who posted the open letter.

I must say I don't really understand the "us vs. them" sentiment in this topic really.

I enjoy watching videos of most of these content creators, so if they feel they have to speak up because they cannot do their job the way they want to (and thus, entertain us) then they certainly should do so.

I didn't like the tone of the petition, a lot of the suggestions and the fact that they speak on behalf of the "community" so I didn't sign.

But I also understand what they are coming from so no need to point and laugh, right?

Umm reading his ultimatum/goodbye thread it would see that maybe legendary status is a tad premature since the vast majority of responses couldn't really care and basically took the mickey out on him. And surprise surprise, the game survived his leaving, he must not have been that important after all :D
Yes, that was kind of the point.

With that one post he reached a level of notoriety on these forums, totally unintended of course but meme worthy never the less.

I genuinely don't know who these community leaders think they are. They don't speak for me and they never will.

And ... A petition for a video game. Really?

You just aren't upset enough, play video games the most boring way possible. Then hang around the forum for a few years after you've stopped playing telling everyone back when you tried grinding at it you didn't like it very much.

You'll soon start feeling the rage.

Secret answers that are so secret they cannot tell them to us. They cannot even tell them to themselves.

How very dare you! We still commemorate the anniversary of his passing, and are eager for his re-emergence at some future date - possibly at the head of his Thargoid army!

As a huge fan of pasties that's the saddest part of this entire situation.

Would you consider signing my petition?

Apologies to both (well everyone I guess). I was away during the reign of this Commander and evidently missed all the fun. I honestly thought he was some well know, popular member of the community - well at least well know, kind of like Zarek Null lol
