T16000m throttle - Full or Half range?

So, after the death of my beloved HOTAS X and then slumming it for a year with a Logitech, I got myself a T16000m (stick and throttle).

I now have a dilemma. Unlike the X, there is no center deadzone on the throttle.

Anyone have any advice/recommendations on whether to use the full range for forward and a button to toggle back/forward, or whether to put a deadzone in the center and use half range for foward, half for back?

Full range with a reverse toggle has always been my choice for this stick.

I also bind "Home" and "End" to digital fwd thrust / reverse thrust respectively - and rarely actually have to use the reverse toggle in flight.

Full range and reverse button.
It will take some time to get used to it, and I'm very happy about the new direction arrows.
But the fine control is worth it...

Coming from the Hotas X I liked the half way indent.
I stuck two small rubber discs (non slip feet for something) on the orange scale either side of the slot at the mid way point.
Then adjusted the dead zone to suit.
I use them as a thumb stop and it works well as I can do it without looking.

I'm using an x52 and prefer full-range there.
I previously used half-range but the extra control of full-range has felt worth it despite the loss of a button as a toggle.

I started with half range and on the x52 pro didn't need to set a mid deadzone (although I had the option).

I long ago switched to full range with a reverse button though. It gives more control and is just easier. Full throttle forward to full throttle reverse at the push of a button can be handy too.

I use full range and use the left pinkie button to reverse throttle. I like the fine-grained throttle control.

It's great for alternating between forward blue zone and backwards blue zone with a single click.

ps: get ready for having to re-grease that throttle every couple months... It's my only gripe with the T16000M, aside from that it's just awesome for what it costs.

No no no no. Forget about reverse buttons. I have the same throttle. It has the best feature of them all.
Full throttle on main and use the butterfly rocker for forward/reverse thrust axis. In combat, put the main
in the blue and accel/decel with your fingers. I have FA off set to middle orange button under ring finger.
The little joystick under pointing finger is directional thrust and press to boost.

Here, this might be simpler:

Once you get the feel of it you wont go anywhere else. I even thought about buying 2 more in case mine
fails and they discontinue it.

X.

I have a CH Throttle and all I've done is put a tiny piece of velco on the inside of the runner to create an small obvious point to stop the throttle at (in the middle). It's a very natural experience then, so pull back to reverse, and push forwards to accelerate etc...

I use full range. But, I also assign a hat switch for 0, 25, 50, and 75% throttle settings. So when I want to use my thrusters only for landing, I can bring the throttle slide down near 0 and use my key-binds to set it at precisely 0. The throttle will stay at 0 until I move the slider again. It is the same with the other positions. In SC I can hit the 75% key-bind for a perfect approach.

I have a Deadzone slider in the Options menu under the Flight Throttle pull down. After attempting to set a decent deadzone to help finding zero, I found the deadzone had to be too large, to allow for good control of the throttle. That's when I came up with the idea to bind the four positions. It helped a ton.

I've got mine set to full with the top left most button (on the paddle-side of the throttle) set to reverse engines (this might be the default, I dunno) and it works really well. Especially in combat.

I also have the mini-stick (right most on the paddle side) as FA Off\On when depressed.

... But I'm feeling much happier these days ...

... I'll get my coat ...
