Codex rumours - where are they?

C'mon, you are are being so pedantic. It is the case. Because we can argue on the different shades of meaning of the word "reported" and "rumored" and from the point of view of the player it is still a place where I am seeking information on new content. Which is not there.
Didn't want to come across as pedantic. But for me the difference between rumored and reported is quite significant.
You're new to Elite, right? :p
Mid 2017, so relatively, yes ;)
Until confirmed by Commanders, the entries about the Dark Wheel and Raxxla are rumors.
Right, but they're included in the knowledge base as background information. Populating the discovery section of the Codex with rumors would at least narrow it down to a specific sector in the Milky Way. And who knows what FDev plans to add in addition to it, to lead the players on the right path...

Codex is one big huge fail and probably the ultimate missed opportunity in this game so far. Could have been a lifeline for explorers that tied the community together and brought the lore of the gameworld to the fore. Instead it's Galnet redux. Poorly designed, barely implemented, and unsupported from day 1.
Codex and Galnet are exhibits A and B in illustrating that Frontier are just plain lazy and don't care about their game. People can make convoluted technical excuses for all the other shortcomings but Galnet and the Codex are not substantial technical challenges they are creative writing and nothing more. There is no excuse.

I'm really relieved to hear this. Rumored aught to have a number only when an actual rumor is released in the lore. The Raxxla for example.

This implies to me that other organic structures or biological POIs are out there waiting to be discovered. Is that the concensus?

Can anyone verify that new organics, geos or alien POI types have been discovered since the Codex was launched? (Also that the new discoveries were not in the rumored column.)

I went out in January to try out the new exploration stuff & found things that were not in the codex (just variants of other things), it may have been a bug but I think it is possible to find new stuff that isn't rumoured.

I don't think they could add a rumour for Raxxla because they'd have to pin it down to a particular region.

Awesome! I mean, I would be so jazzed to find a new variant, but I'm going to keep my ear to the ground for entirely new clades being discovered.

Just knowing it's out there makes exploration worth it. I might even go back to checking geological sites!

Haven't played for a while, are rumours in the game now? Wondering what the purpose of them is, if not...

Every few months I'll repeat my question here, hoping that someone knows the answer.

Have there been any rumours in the codex so far? If not, why is FDev not using this feature?

I really don't understand it... You could do so many exciting things with those codex rumours. Writing a fleshed out galnet article, after that rumours starting to pop up in the galaxy. Was really excited about the rumour section when Beyond was announced.

I wouldn't put too much stock into rumours. I mean, I've seen several F class stars for instance but they all seemed pretty bright. I just want to know why they failed so maybe they can get an A next time.

There was always the rumour that fdev didn't intend to switch everything on at once, but instead add them using rumours through the year. Instead they accidentally switched everything on a at launch, so they had nothing to rumour about. But that's only a rumour ...

"Half Baked Content" as usual 🤷‍♂️

Yeah rumours were one of the few reasons i could think of to go into the codex and go exploring for things thankfully fdev sacked them off because otherwise there might be some fun gameplay to be had.

Joking aside i spent a few weeks around maia looking at the satellite things (the ones where you get 3 of them in different systems to triangular a location not the absurd sound ones that you need 4 degrees and a code breaking team to figure out). That was awesome not straight forward go here scan that game play but not rocket science. I thought rumours would be a precursor to these activities but alas fdev will always be fdev.

Yeah, but it's been nearly a year. So that "we switched it on too early" shouldn't be an argument any more.
Maybe it's because we haven't found the thing thats meant to give the rumours.

Or FDev just haven't added anything yet.
Should be the other way around. We get a snippet of information through galnet or whatever that triggers a rumour, and then the search starts.

FD development seems to be a think tank, where they sit in a circle, randomly throwing in ideas like "multi crew", "power play" or "codex rumours", which they then implement in a bare bone fashion and move on. It has happened so many times that it must be a core philosophy. I hope they'll change it at some point, but I don't have much hope.
