Thread Closed: Not open for further replies.
I just randomly chose 5650 and enabled UDP forwarding for this port in my router to my pc.
However, ingame seems unresponsive as hell. Im currently sitting in docking bay and cant do anything.

Going to end this here... Best to wait for 2.02

EDIT: Detailed Instruction if you guys wanna test it.

appconfig.xml

<Network
Port="5650"
LogFile="netLog"
DatestampLog="1"
>

In router set up a UDP port forwarded to your computers ip, also good to set up an static local ip for your machine.

I will not give more advice on how to set up router port forwarding as there are 1000 of different routers out there youll have to figure it out at some points im afraid.

Just randomly choosing a port wont help! just opens you up for attacks.

E: D use 19364

There are probably some others though, as most games make use of more than 1 port.

That port is always open on my router, and has not helped me\!

Come on guys,
code, code, code, compile, upload!!!

(I imagine them having a big poster of Steve Ballmer one the wall, looming at them and his "developer" chant running over the PA...)

I sure hope FD management show their appreciation for the herculean effort the devs have put in over the past 48 hours and let's them have a long weekend or something to allow them to recharge their batteries.

Great work guys...thanks!

Not the only person to state this view .. but have some rep anyhoo

THX i give it a try !

well had just a black screen before patch, now got red start button, and server too old message.

Interesting thing, I had my old gtx 560 in before patch, wiith black screen, whilst waiting for new patch, my new r9 280 arrived, so installed it and then ran update patch to get red start button, shows it's not graphic card related. lol

19364 is the server port. LordSpackolatius was talking about using a specific port on his/her machine for port forwarding, which means that the game doesn't need to use UPnP any more. The two aren't related.

ED uses the port you tell it to use in the appconfig.xml and that can be any port you want it to (except for the reserved ones that is)
Proof: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=11361
And opening a single port wont do you any harm in 2014 so dont be paranoid ;)
Just choose one.

As i stated above: Even though i can load the game its unresponsive and laggy and i cant even do a thing ingame.
So its finally not very helpful. Best to wait for the DEVS to release Beta 2.02

Im out, have a nice evening you guys :)

Not seeing any difference in playability after 2.01, still get the brief Cobra silhouette and a black screen with music, either in Solo or open play options.

Great stuff guys thanks for the heads up on this, now if I can only get out of my Hyper space jump without the ol' end task in task manager, Hmmmmm? 15 mins of being stuck in what I assume is some form of continuous loop to iBootes; Nope end task it is.......

Has there ever been two updates in a single day?

I've not been able to play a single game since Beta 2 hit last night, I just get a black screen like the others.

Wow got it working even with graphic issues seemingly fixed somehow.
I just deleted the 5 huge log files that had been generated and got straight in!

Looks amazing!
How do I do screen grabs?

Edit Noooo just got dropped and back to red start button.
But that is the first time the graphics have worked and everything for me.
The outpost and planet looked gorgeous and all the stars were there.
I'm excited to play it again now.

Getting the black screen thing here too, as well as the huge log file growth. In less than 2 minutes of launching the game the network logfile was 601MB in size.

It starts off like this:
Code:
14-10-01-19:16 GMT Daylight Time (18:16 GMT)
{19:16:55} Start Log for this machine: 192.168.1.1:59066 - dr01d
{19:17:12} ConnectToServerActivity: response
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<data><servers><server><ip>35342e3231372e3137302e323436</ip><port>19364</port></server></servers><rescueservers/></data>

{19:17:12} New Primary Server: 54.217.170.246:19364
{19:17:13} Now using address 217.155.46.58:56807 for this machine after STUN reply
{19:17:13} The message was too large for the specified buffer and (for unreliable protocols only) any trailing portion of the message that did not fit into the buffer has been discarded.

{19:17:13} Established MTU=1492
{19:17:22} EnterLocation: response

<data><servers><server><ip>35342e37332e3131322e313833</ip><port>19364</port></server></servers><rescueservers/></data>

{19:17:22} EnterLocation: Using UDP server address 54.73.112.183:19364 from webserver
{19:17:22} New Primary Server: 54.73.112.183:19364
{19:17:22} FailedToConnect: in ServerAdminRegister::CreateMissionAcceptRequest

Then the following is repeated many times a second:

Code:
{19:17:22} packed a parcel with zero letters!
<no log>
original m_schedulingValue=1.000000, requestSchedulingValue=0.000000 letterSchedulingValue=1.000000 resendUrgency=0.000000 to=54.73.112.183:19364 x 10 WIN-UJO7F3XL804

By the time I killed the process there were almost 8.5 millions lines in the log file and it was up to 601MB in size.

Thankfully it compresses pretty well (310KB), so if you guys will find it in any way useful you can grab it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3585260/netLog.1410011916.rar

Hi Mucka, what's the path of those log files? Thanks.
