ANNOUNCEMENT Community Update (22/10)

In my opinion and although somewhat late in the game, fixing long standing bugs before a major introduction of new content can only be beneficial for all players. As well, the last two updates broke many aspects of the game. Many threads on this forum pointed out the need for some type of public beta testing of updates before release. I agree this is both wise and needed to insure new bugs introduced in each update are addressed before release to the community. Some complain Frontier does not listen to the community on some of these issues. I think on this occasion, Frontier listened to the community by communicating and responding with the changes asked for by most.

For one, I appreciate Frontier addressing those long standing bugs before releasing new content. If it represents a delay for new content by stabilizing the game first, fixing old bugs and providing beta testing for updates prior to their release, I would be willing to wait and have the new content working as designed upon release.

I thank Frontier for the communication of intentions, finally addressing long standing issues, providing an opportunity to test updates before release and insuring new content will be on a better footing to function as designed.

Thank you Frontier.

Yep. (y)

Sad to see carriers delayed for sure, but I'm also very thankful you guys are actually taking the feedback to heart.
Ultimately this will make Elite a better game for everyone.

The introduction of public beta testing periods is also much appreciated! This was the #1 thing I wanted to see addressed after the recent backlash over the September Update, and I'm so happy to see it done!

On the other side of things however, can we please get Thargoid incursions back? Maybe even stronger than last time? That side of the game has become very stale since the Witch Head expansion, and it's kinda limiting what a lot of us can currently do in the game. I bet Operation IDA, AXI and the Hull Seals would love you for it. I know I would.
Maybe re-focus the next Interstellar Initiative back to the Goids, give that side of the game some new wind again.

I think a large part of the problem, for me personally at least..is I have no faith that FD actually will fix the outstanding issues OR deliver any of the things they say they will when they say they will.

And why would I? How could I?

The last 2 years...has been..perhaps one of the biggest sh*t shows iver ever seen for Elite.

If i genuinely believed what they said in this post was true...id be ok with it.

But aside from the shills and the delusional white knights...i would expect most people ...aren't brimming with confidence right now.

See, I read a post earlier today listing long outstanding bugs in the game.

First on the list was "combat logging".
I'll let you in on a secret... being able to log out of the game is NOT a bug. Logging out at 'inappropriate' time is down to the player, not a bug in the game.

So, when there is actual sense in the issues that have some people fired up, there can then be a sensible discussion about those issues.

o/ Demands 2 fleet carriers Per player for the delay.

I honestly feel like this is not ok. We have spent an entire year waiting and two months before the drop of them you tell us we have 2 wait another 5-6months. I think this is the wrong approach. The fleet carrier should come out in December as planned. THEN you spend all not just part all of 2020 fixing the game and resolving all bugs that come in with the old system of the 2019 in 2020. So that we are not waiting for any new content that was already promised to us. This is because we don’t know what is planned for 2020 as far as content.
Well.. Concider yourself lucky for only waiting for them for one year. Most of us have been waiting for them before they have been postponed a year ago.

I understand that "ED: New Era" will be released along with "Star Citizen"? :смущенный:

There is no release date yet for Star Citizen or SQ42. There was, however, a plan published by its developer in Dec 2018 to have a "beta" for SQ42 (its single player campaign) sometime in Q2 2020. That beta has now been delayed to Q3 and it is also not clear yet if it will be only internal to the developer or external/open to the community. If you want to discuss SC further the thread is over here.

I'm divided on this news.

On one hand, committing to fixing important bugs is very good. There are some bugs in the game which sorely need squashing for sure.

On the other hand, Elite Dangerous will have gone over one and a half years without gaining any new appreciable content for anyone other than new players starting out. One and a half years!!! That's a long time for a game to languish while content starved.

The community could use some hope, some things to look forward to, and unfortunately there just isn't a lot of that going around here anymore. I hate to say it but statements like this have become almost cliche coming from Frontier:

The team have been hard at work on the next major milestone, which you may remember we mentioned back in March as our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update.

At some point the game needs news about it's future. The community needs to have some idea of where the game is going.

I guess next summer is the new hope target now. Hopefully that does not get kicked down the road any farther?

We now wait for the Carrier many Month. We collect Ingame money. An now we get a kick in the balls. Thank you FD. No, now I am finally off!!!!!

Finally you got me raged!
It was always ok. Even with Te bugs. But it progressed. Now another 6 Month?

THIS IS REALLY A JOKE? YOU CANT BE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS?!?!
ONLY BECAUSE 3000 People made a petition you decide to off the rest? THANK YOU, FDEV. You really know how to get the community angry!

Whilst I do agree that combat logging is not a bug, introducing anti-cheat mechanisms is a common expectation the userbase places on the developers in online games.
