ANNOUNCEMENT Community Update (22/10)

Thank you very much for this. My frame rate drops after a few minutes in a hazardous resource extraction site. NPC and player ships zig-zag and rubber-band frequently around stations. The FSS jitters after I zoom into a planet that has surface sites, and doesn't improve until whatever background process computes the signatures ends running. Elite Dangerous crashes sometimes for no apparent reason. Thargoid interceptors sometimes remain apparently alive but motionless for a few members of the wing after it has been killed, and those members do not get paid. I'm sure I'm forgetting some other bugs I have encountered.

See, I read a post earlier today listing long outstanding bugs in the game.

First on the list was "combat logging".
I'll let you in on a secret... being able to log out of the game is NOT a bug. Logging out at 'inappropriate' time is down to the player, not a bug in the game.

So, when there is actual sense in the issues that have some people fired up, there can then be a sensible discussion about those issues.
I feel like you replied to the wrong person there...as nothing you said there is even close to a reasonable response to anything i said in that post...or relevant to it either...

Wise decision Frontier. I stopped playing some time ago only to return sometimes for a couple of hours, but this is something I like. I will gladly buy any paid updates to come if they come out to be a work well done and not half baked product.

You're not listening enough to the community's concerns!
I HATE YOU

You're listening to the community's concerns and making bug fixes a priority!?
I HATE YOU!

Carriers are delayed because you are listening to the community and fixing bugs!?
I HATE YOU!

:sneaky:

I think now is an important time to remember, if it weren't for Elite, you'd be stuck playing Star Citizen in it's beta state at this point, and would have probably spent more money.
They're working to make it better and E:D will be better than it ever has been. And they're doing it at least in large part because we asked them to.

I'm very glad that FDEV has finally focused on fixing the major bugs, altough I'm worried about the lack of content for another 3-6 months. I really love the feeling and concept of Elite but right now the galaxy just feels...dead? No that's an exaggeration but you know what I mean by that. I have many questions about what's going on with the game. Why FC's aren't ready yet? Why AX CZ's disappeared from the game instead of being improved?

I wish we had small monthly updates giving us for example a new mission type, new secret POIs (crashed ships with lore, bases, UCB's and so on), along with Interstellar Initiatives going on in the meantime. I hope the "New Era" update really is something worth waiting for...

You have your die hard white knights...here on the forums...who literally are starting to look like they are paid to be positive.

Holy hell.
I totally agree with you. There's nothing wrong with continued criticism of the continued bugs and delays.

Come on, guys. I've personally been critical of the bugs, most of which are stupid and re-appearing. But if I could choose how the developers used their time, I'd prefer to have a less buggy game than an effort to bring new and - let's face it - probably buggy content. So, yes, this is the right decision. Please try to relax and think about it.

Good thing is, I can at least stop worrying about grinding enough credits. Have ran out of mats due to focusing on credits when selecting mission payouts, and held back on buying ships.

Sounds sensible anyways, even though I was kind of looking forward to FC's. But it's better if the foundation gets some love before the weight of fleet carriers get dropped on it.

Is that mean next Big Update for Pay Content in 2020 will be moved too to 2021?
Let´s think about how they usually present new content:
  1. Let´s say they´d manage to actually release those FCs in Q2 2020, it usually takes them months to announce anything new.
  2. Then probably some ingame riddles pointing towards something for another 6-12 months.
  3. Later, a video of flashes of somthing hard to make out.
  4. Still later, some marketing for a Fdev-Expo with a hint of them being ready to "present something interesting".
  5. Some information about what´s coming probably with a timeframe of months if not longer during the expo.
  6. Then, 2 months before the content is due, they´ll tell us there are bugs to work on and that the content will be delayed for another year.
I´m not expecting them to deliver anything anytime soon.

Thanks for the update, it's always better to know than to not know, and information like this goes some way to repair the trust lost by previous communication and actions. At this stage of the development my main hope is simply that the game I bought & mostly still enjoy is not further eroded without good reason.

Any customer who owns the only base game, or only base+Horizons has received what they paid for and any more is just a bonus, whenever it arrives, and if it arrives at all.

our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update.

what should i do with my free time there?

No idea of programming. Not having a decent QA team. Having incompetent bosses and making bad decisions. You don't need math.
Think how many lines of code there is for Elite. Even one typo in wrong place and there will be consequences. Or fallacious logic somewhere and so on and on. Now when somebody patches things, that can produce new bugs while eliminating some old ones...it is simply impossible to make something as big as Elite bug free. Though that is kind of natural. Think for example about human DNA as code, it has multiple bugs, each individual his/hers own bugs even. Most severy bugs of course prevent program from running, or lead to natural when in living organisms, but less severe are the real problem.

You want to fix Bugs?
Fix the broken BGS in V374 Pegasi.
That thing is a mess and is killing the Player Group Equestrian Naval Fleet behind it due to their frustration. They send you Tickets and there is a Issue Report containing tons of data pointing out how much effort they spend (around 4 people doing 5+ daily missions) and the non existant or negative reward they get for their efforts. Or winning a war and seeing the Influence boost go to a third faction instead of their own, just to name a few.
They don´t like to fix BGS in any player system. It´s been a buggy mess ever since they released it. You are not the only group they enjoy to ignore.
