I am awake to the fact that it doesn't matter how much money you have.

I'm just saying it's not as important as some of the bugs that people are reporting.

'Important' is subjective though. For example I couldn't really care less about the screen tearing on the XBox because I play on PC, so it has no effect on my experience whatsoever. I'm sure XBox and PS4 players would have the same feelings about pc-specific bugs.

Note - I'm not saying you should just suck it up, I understand that it's important to you and no doubt to other XBox players affected by it.

I'm on PC but I feel for those guys and I'm not really experiencing any bugs that badly. I think the forum lit a fire under the chairs of the devs however.

Obviously missed something (said open letter), but apart from the point I mentioned earlier (removing testing being bad and if Fdev's actually going to listen to the whole hey look we found x bug with out pushing it into release). Others have brought up a big big point. This time last year we got told that 2019 would not see a 'major expansion release' and the reason given was 'We want to focus 2019 on Core Game Improvements and Bug Fixes'.

Honest question were did FDEV's management forget that and loose track of what this year was meant to be about? Why with 2 months until the end of the year to go is there suddenly this oh heck we promised bug fixes hitting. Should that not have been happening the entire year to date (we all know that if you look at the list of bugs that have been reported now for years that it's actually seemingly grown). And while yeah ok Fdev have 500 people and of that around 100 are working on Elite the rest are on other projects, lets remember something there is nothing that actually prevents David moving engineers from one project team to another temporarily, except deadlines to get other products out the door.

Then there is the whole 'era of secrecy' that has become well prevailent since before Wil even became our community guy, while I get that at FDEV it likely feels like this 'Well if were honest we get roasted and if we clam up we get roasted we can't win', the later is NEVER EVER a good idea, but you guys have done it over and over and over since well... just prior to release, and every time some one tries to hold you accountable for it the shout down and the like begins. We all know what was 'promised' during the kickstarter and how a month before release we got told some of that functionality was not going to happen (cough sp, modding, etc cough) but we at least got proper news cycles and updates about what we were getting, news letters came with actual DEV updates! we got told what was being worked on, what the focus was and then that just stopped, in part I think because the community roasted Mr Brooks for what at least a vocal majority on the old forums felt was constant double talk and half managed features, promised things that then got cut a Design Forum that was ignored in the end etc etc etc. Since then the Dev's that did talk to the community, engage with the community the most seem to have all moved to other projects and while this push for bug fixes is awesome and a small crack in the secrecy 'veil' that seems to have come down (because you know we getting told before like a week before a patch is meant to hit), we still get the whole 'we aren't talking about anything else that we are working on for Elite, because... why?

I don't get what holding out on what the next updates going to have gains you? Your only competition really in the 'game space' is still in ALPHA and has been now for years and isn't going to be released any time soon if their PUBLIC roadmap is anything to go by, but at least that roadmap is PUBLIC and the community can hold them accountable your player base has to live on the hopes that promises made today will actually be delievered on 2 - 12 months down the line, and a lot of the time especially over the past years hasn't happened (Fleet Carriers = a big example of this). The only reason I can think of not saying what your working on for the next expansion is because your not certain you can get it to work and rather then get the community hyped and actually feeling positive we just get a year after the last 'we will have more news next year!' another 'news next year!' :(

I think they're trying to balance the same things that every game developer is: quality, timetable, delivery and profit. I'm sure they do take note of feedback because frankly, they're not in an industry where successful companies can ignore it, but I don't imagine that they're led by it any more than most game companies are.

I think there are times when players desires and the developers desires will be aligned and times when they won't be. I think there are also times when players and developers priorities will be aligned. Occasionally there's a golden moment when all of those things align but it's never going to be the norm.

Yeah this took real courage on Frontier's part. Obviously we are all going to be disappointed about that, but in the long term this is totally the right call. If the game is in a better place when Fleet Carriers drop they are going to be even more awesome. I am excited enough about this news that come payday I will actually be buying some cosmetics for the first time in several weeks.

I can't wait to see what gets fixed. I hope balance passes are included and not just bug fixes.
I'm not looking for courage from Fdev but instead, competence....is that too much to ask for? Is it too much to ask for them to make a product do what they said it would do? Is it too much to ask for them to keep their promises.....to show their competence in making a game?

Will;
thanks for another update telling us to expect more and more delays,
I have been a player for several years and am starting to feel that ED is the poor cousin in the Frontiers games library.. About time that your company made an effort and employed enough people to fix all problems /bugs/ and delayed promises relating to ED etc, for once and for all.

So now you are telling us all, it's wait till 2020 and beyond... Come on Frontier, stop procrastinating, employ or divert funds and resources to ED, and give your long suffering player base what you have been promising and promising but not delivering , because imho you are starting to sound like politicians.

Well to be honest, i've never expected that FC's will roll out in Dec.
E-Mail me when they are out, so i have a reason to jump back into game ;)

The good thing about E:D is that it took 458hrs of game time to get me bored.

The good:
I welcome the return of the Beta servers.
(Nothing like your customers doing the beta testing and bug finding for you) and it also allows for players to test things for themselves that they don't really want to do on the live server.

The bad
No info on the carriers - you could at least give us some details.
"This is what we are thinking about doing. Cost, jump range, modules, etc." The alpha preview basically.

The horrible:
Carriers delayed.
This year has been a dry spell as it was already, Carriers delayed from December 2018 to Mid 2020, nothing really new otherwise. No, the Arx grind isn't really news, new or even news-worthy.

Anyway - my 2 cents: Thank you for the beta servers. See you all in.... 2022, when I finished playing Cyberpunk.

Greetings Commanders,

Following the launch of the September Update last month, we’d like to provide you all with an update on our plans for Elite Dangerous.

Firstly, thank you for all of your feedback on the September Update, which you've shared with us on the forums, across social media, on livestreams and through the Issue Tracker. There is no doubt that, in addition to the new features, the September Update introduced a number of issues and bugs which caused a lot of frustration. We are really sorry for these issues. We realise that some of the issues had an impact on your ability to enjoy Elite Dangerous. The team have been working hard to address the most critical issues and have already released a series of patches and updates to bring those fixes in as quickly as possible.

However, we know there's more to be done. You've asked for more focus on existing bug/fixes and issues, and for the community to be better integrated into the development process and testing for these upcoming updates.

In order to improve your overall experience, we have decided to refocus our efforts on addressing key issues and bugs. Since the launch of the September Update, we've been taking a deeper look at our internal development roadmap, the way in which we utilise public betas, and the content of our next updates.

Here is a summary of our plans:
  • From now and into next year (2020), the updates will focus almost exclusively on addressing recent and longstanding issues, including those reported in the Issue Tracker, ultimately making the game better.
  • We are expecting to have a series of these updates, which will be rolled out (approximately) every three to four months.
  • Each update will also include a public beta that will run prior to the update's release, with a dedicated time to address major issues that appear.
  • The first of these updates will have its public beta in December, with an expectation that the launch will be early in 2020.
As a result of our updated plans, we have made the difficult decision to defer the release of Fleet Carriers. We are now planning for Fleet Carriers to be released in an update in the second quarter of 2020, rather than in December 2019 as previously stated. This will grant us additional time to refine the feature as well as focusing time on addressing existing reported issues. It will also ensure the state of the game is in a better position to introduce Fleet Carriers, that will provide Commanders even more opportunities to interact with the Milky Way. We understand that this delay will be disappointing for some players, but do know that this decision is one that we do not take lightly, and is made with the best interests of the community and game at heart.

Ultimately, we are confident that this will improve the Elite Dangerous experience for all our players.

The team have been hard at work on the next major milestone, which you may remember we mentioned back in March as our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update. We appreciate there is a bit of a wait, but we want to make sure it is ready to be shown before making our full official announcement to the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing and continued support and for helping give us the feedback, steer and insight to make decisions that will benefit the entire community and for your continued passion and dedication.
It’s ok, life will move on! I will continue to fly regardless

On my point of view I think devlopers make the right choice to minimize all bugs possible with good quality considering everyone's gaming joy in this great spacious game :)

As for the fleet carrier, I think it's better to drop this when everything is well planned and tested so we not get stucked halfway out in milky way or lack of content ;)

Keep the good work Devs (y)

Community askes for more time put into fixing bugs and getting enhanced beta testing...

Community complains that testing and bug fixing slow down development of new stuffs...

That is a prime example why community in general has no idea how this stuff works...

Keep up the good work FDev o7
