Horizons Sell my trade-conda for what ship...

Hi there!

I am about to "start playing" the game for real and not just fly and trade which I have done the whole time.

I will do missions and go to Has Res sites to bounty hunt I guess.

Now that a few new ships came out I have a hard time selection the ship I should use...

Been leaning towards the Federal Assault Ship but maybe 1.5 introduced nefs/buffs or other ships that would be better?

I bounty hunt Haz Res in a FAS and LOOOOOVE it for that, but it falls flat for just about anything else obviously. Next to that, I would have to agree with Midian about the Python. If you can afford both, even better.

Supposedly the updated FDL is making people happy, but I never owned the old one or new one to speak to it.

I disagree with both answers here. The Python is indeed a great a ship, but a very (EXTREMELY) expensive prospect (~15M in insurance a pop, and $300M total price combat fitted) to LEARN to fight in (better have $100 Million in rebuys ready!!). It is also kinda a seal clubber, so you will not have to learn defensive tactics (pip management and evasive flying) to be successful in PVE. Just point, shoot and win.

The FAS is a fantastic and fun ship but is a hull tank. Expect your shields to drop easily and often. Your time in Haz Res will likely be limited by your hull and module health.

I would recommend learning to fight in either a Cobra Mk3 or a Vulture. Either is a fantastic fighting ship and cost a tiny fraction of a combat fitted Python. The Vulture particularly has enough firepower to bring down big ships with ease, but is also fragile enough that you must be smart with pip management, evasive flying, and learning when to accept a gunfire exchange and when and how to avoid the same. The vulture will also teach you the fine art of power management to squeeze every bit of awesomeness out of this ship.

So buy a Vulture.

The anaconda is your best money maker. Use your brain you can make the cash for a new A rated python in no time at all. You be mad to sell the anaconda.

This, I'm afraid.

Other than the fact that it can't land on medium pads, the Annie can turn it's hand to pretty much anything; Combat, Trading, Mining, Exploration.
If you sell it, you're only going to end up buying another one at some point, when you want to do some activity at the "apex" level.

Personally, I have my Annies built as large multirole ships (SRV, cargo space, fighter bay, guns, scanners etc) while I have Kraits doing the same job on a smaller scale.

If you want a Python, stick some mining lasers and collectors on your Annie, go Painite mining in HIP 21991 and you could be flying a shiny new A-rated Python out of a station 3 hours from now.

Or you could buy a beluga and do it all better

D
Step 1 : convert Trade Conda into Mining Conda
Step 2 : go Void Opal or Painite Mining and earn 100x more than Trading
Step 3 : continue and buy any Ships you want for any role

I guess that about covers it.
