Can we have more info about Fleet Carriers even if they are delayed please?

Haha, you can be so naive. If they were that close they wouldn't postpone it by up to eight months.
the cynic in me thinks they had a meeting on Friday and were like "oh crap we forgot about FCs.... what shall we do?.... Delay it, tell them we're working on bug improvement for 8 months"

"also get someone on those small seismic charges its driving me insane"

Also they've already definitively stated it will have a specific number of landing pads.

Have they?

Anyway these are the particular images I draw from when I think they are modular ships;

The nose cone and engines are likely separate sections that can be matched up with specific other sections to specialise the FC, it does state a specific number of pads in that thread, however that may indeed be part of the standard fit-out of the FC with the extra units adding extra functionality.

Are you saying that FDEV is lying to us and the fact that they can't answer to the OP questions is the clear evidence?!

We are now planning for Fleet Carriers to be released in an update in the second quarter of 2020, rather than in December 2019 as previously stated. This will grant us additional time to refine the feature as well as focusing time on addressing existing reported issues. It will also ensure the state of the game is in a better position to introduce Fleet Carriers

😏

Yep they have (gamescom reveals fleet carrier details):

148406

Yep they're the ones, I couldn't remember where they were here. Anyway it looks like the nose cone is a fixed asset, common to all FC's. It looks like there's a variable asset between the landing pads and the nose cone so that may be the support ship part of the FC, and maybe the engines are variable depending on your selected role otherwise why have them as a separate item on the images. Still, we will just have to wait a little while longer for the information.

I'll never be able to understand how something becomes unable to be made in a video game. Any excuse, no matter how true seems like total . Who cares if it doesn't math or seem possible. It's a video game for crying out loud. If we wanted realistic we would go outside and play sports or something lol.

Anyways I think we should riot regardless.
Thats because you don't know the first thing about programming apparently. There's a lot of reasons something can be technically non-viable.

In most cases its because the feature would require such a large re-write of the rest of the program that it is no longer cost effective.

As for the riot, I'll get the pitch fork.

The support ship is part of the FC. You get cabin and living quarters, engine rooms and fuel store, these are attached each end to the support ship that has a varying number of pads and features designed to help in a particular role, at least that has always been my take on it. You don't get separate sips flying around with you, each FC is composed of modular units assembled as requried for particular tasks.
Boy you sure made up a whole lot of stuff there without any actual evidence to support it.

And they very literally said "support ship" to fulfill each role. But yeah sure. Your version is just as likely at this point.

You really think you are getting a couple of ships to follow you around as support ships? The things is called a Fleet Carrie, not an Armada.

And yes, I can indeed make stuff up and it be just as likely as anything else, but so far we have never seen a picture of these separate "support" ships associated with the FC, and no post by FDEV has stated anything like "your FC and support ships will jump 500ly at a time" it's only ever been "your FC can jump 500ly at a time." So as far as I am concerned my versions is actually more likely than anything else based on the statements by FDEV, not less likely.

So where are the images of the support ships? Significantly where they are talking about them but still show a module section of the FC and describe how the module is mission specific.

Please don't comment on things without at least seeing the actual announcement on the subject.

Holy crap guys.

They literally specify this in their announcement video that there's secondary support ships in addition to the modules.

Watch the video.

Fdev: posts video showing different support ships

Elite wiki: posts screenshots with all the other details including support ships

Elite media articles: talk about support ships

You guys:

"Where are these support ship images?"

"Support ships are not a thing"

Lordy

I would love to see some of the carrier functionality prior to Christmas, I know it is delayed, and I totally get it. Seeing how they will or could be utilised would be really interesting in my mind.

details on what the support ship does, how the storage or ships will work including any limited of how many ships can be stored would be cool.
Im a member of a squadron, and would like to know how the carrier can be utilised or benefits the squadron.

Man if only we had images showing these distinct support vessels side by side with the FC.

glares at the announcement video

Did you not watch the actual trailer for fleet carriers?

Sadly I dont think any information is coming anytime soon, since fleet carriers are no longer coming anytime soon. If ever at this point. It would be nice, but I dont think its gonna happen
