Content Starvation

eZjKZJx.jpg

2020 will hopefully see our bowls full of freshly baked content, but until then we have crumbs. And hot Java :coffee:.

Will it be enough? It will have to be I guess. If we ration the crumbs between us, we may survive. :)

I feel like we're still perfecting our core mining techniques. Personally there is a TON of ax weaponry that I haven't gotten yet, and I haven't touched the Mamba since it's poor showing in the beta, which I believe is resolved now.
Are we really "content starved", or are you just bored? It's ok to play other games when you get bored you know. This isn't clash of clans, it's not designed to make you anxious about not checking in daily.

No. You asked for bug fixes instead of content. Stop changing your mind.

Hm nah....
AFAIK we asked for "functional QA so we can enjoy bug-free content". Since years. Didn't come.

So now we got bugs AND not alot of content. So bad, some official recently (reluctantly) looked at the mountain of bugs, got scared and screamed "Feature Freeze" into the office.

Forgot :

According to David Braben himself (emphasis mine) :
“Look at Elite Dangerous. It’s now in its fifth financial year since it was released and every day there’s been a new story in the game, every week there’s been new content."

Go figure. From his point of view, there can't - possibly - be anything like content starvation. Or is it? ;)

PS.
I sometimes wonder if the lack/scarcity of new content is intentional, so whenever they introduce even ever-so-slight additions, they can literally serve "water drops to dehydrated, thristy people".

Artificial scarcity is the scarcity of items that exists even though either the technology for production or the sharing capacity exists to create a theoretically limitless or at least greater quantity of production than currently exists. The most common causes are monopoly pricing structures, such as those enabled by laws that restrict competition or by high fixed costs in a particular marketplace. The inefficiency associated with artificial scarcity is formally known as a deadweight loss.

Once upon a time, in a far away land, Games were produced that were feature complete. At that time, DLC's were dreamt of only by the most fevered corporations. And the games had life, and NPC's and they had all 15 colours of the sinclair spectrum. But then, evil men discovered they could make lots of Money with Games and they tainted them for all time. And now we are here, the present day where people pay money for virtual paint and corporations make millions by selling things they removed from the game earlier and Elite 4 is a gently caressing MMO. There is a game, it's a fairly good one and it has features. I pray to the Sir Clive they fix what is already there and then improve it vastly before adding too much else. I fear my prayers shall not be answered.

prayers are so 900s ... our new gods demand petitions.

So sorry, I forgot. Let me start again:

OPEN LETTER TO THE ELITE DANGEROUS MINORITY FROM THE TRUE MAJORITY OF COMMUNITY INFLUENCING CELEBRITY BIG BROTHERS

Dearest, Elite Dangerous Community,

I write this letter with a heavy heart but an open mind. Trust me when I tell you that I, Klarg, represent you all. You may not think I do, but you are wrong. If you think I am incorrect then you are clearly a Carebear/Ganker/Troll (delete as appropriate) and are misguided. We, the community, or "I" as I like to call it, believe that fixing bugs is good. If you would rather they added more to the game and let's face it, that would include more bugs and problems as well, then refer back to my previous statement about disagreeing with me. Should you disagree with me, or should FDev not carry out the wishes, expressed in this Open Letter, of the 100% Majority of The Community, then unknown bad things will happen, believe me.

Sincerely Yours
The Entire Elite: Dangerous Community

Better? :\

OA was totally right in bis recent video... they have added great stuff already that could be used to create tons of engaging content, like megaships or station attacks/rescues. Could be used for terrorist attacks and opposing IIs. They just don't and stick with CGs. Mindboggling.

This is an online game / MMO, bug fixing should be run a of the mill daily occurrence, bread and butter, part of the maintenance of the game, nothing more.

FD however view bug fixing and optimisation as some sort of hardship, a huge sacrifice they have to make every few months/years under extreme duress and it comes at a cost...content.

It shows this game is not properly resourced when the choice is bug fixing or content. FD are clearly over reaching with the new era as they have left such a small and under resourced team to maintain the game in the intervening 2 years that within 9 months it's all come crashing down.

Sorry I forgot, it's all the players fault
