This just popped up, regarding SC and VR. I honestly don’t know enough about it to say how he is doing it. But, like I said, people I game with enjoy it.
He's using VorpX, as per the video title. It's a 3rd party driver that emulates stereo in non-VR games which VR headsets can then interpret.

VorpX VR is better than flatscreen, but nowhere near true VR because the depth is emulated via VorpX, instead of simulated via the game. If you have a VR headset you can see the differences easily with a VR-supported game (e.g. Elite): play it on monitor, VorpX, and VR. In a nut-shell, they're 2D, 2.5D, and 3D respectively.

The low FPS and latency-judderiness shows in the recording; I'm amazed he isn't puking.

It doesn't even look as though it's head tracking in that video, it looks more like he's controlling the view on the controller and trying to move his head to match. That or there's some horrific smoothing (and lag) going on.

I'm sure there are people who would consider that to be a legit VR experience, but I'm not one of them.

If you can enjoy Star Citizen as a fully developed and more complete game then all the other games on the market and have more fun with it despite its shortcomings then VorpX IS full VR.....

I noticed the progress on both SQ42 and SC has stopped to a halt. There was barely anything done in the last few weeks. Are they all on deck for building the CitizenCon "demo reel" ?

A good bet, if we take the recent patches and announcements/videos to gauge the capabilities remaining in CIG then I guess they need everybody to make this event work ^^

I honestly can't believe how bad he was at ship combat...pseudo-VR or not. Being chased off by a couple of one shot Cutlass's and a Connie I regularly take out in a Caterpillar isn't displaying any benefits from using pseudo-VR

Maybe if he spent less time pressing buttons on his 17 input devices whilst waving his head around aimlessly and actually hitting the ships he was aiming at would help...

This is how it's done...minus VR but using head/eyetracking (in a certain other space game...since my Tobii 4C won't work in SC) ;)

I really miss my headtracking in SC...

Both devteams for Rust and Subnautica have their respective internal Trello boards public for all to see - now that's peak roadmap fidelity.

I'd love to know how people quantify X% of progress though. For me at least, I prefer EDs FX 2017 bare bones blobs and then you kind of judge on release- otherwise its a bit pointless bordering on OCD.

Although, if FD had 1% of Powerplay improvement listed I'd pop something in my head.

When building a userbase it is useful to be open about what is happening to get/keep people interested. For larger more mature projects it is less useful, and the overhead of updating what is happening on a large project is less worthwhile, especially when the project is attempting to keep surprises for their users. Or you can do like SC do, and make stuff up :)

I would think that is a strong possibility indeed. CitCons have generally always been a success in terms of funding (if we believe CIG´s tracker) and have always worked wonders in order to rekindle passions and interest among backers. It also gets the project a lot of exposure due to the discussions it generates be them positive or negative. CIG will also spend a big chunk of funds in marketing and buzz, press releases and articles etc. Failing actual meaningful and impactful project progress, CitCons are the next best thing for CIG.

Having said that, regarding roadmaps I do not think for a minute that CIG´s pulse falter at all when it comes to simply update all SQ42 tasks in progress and mark them as complete with some kind of pseudo-rationalization explanation (the CitCon reel may actually support rationalize that). Since there is zero visibility of the actual result in our PCs they can do pretty much whatever they want.

I get that, but then why not make things up and create imaginary tasks, and give them huge progress figures ?
Trying to lead cultists into giving up more of their money because the development is stalling is a risky proposal at best, because of exactly what you just said...
