He's using VorpX, as per the video title. It's a 3rd party driver that emulates stereo in non-VR games which VR headsets can then interpret.Source: https://youtu.be/LGnBIbAH6Tc
This just popped up, regarding SC and VR. I honestly don’t know enough about it to say how he is doing it. But, like I said, people I game with enjoy it.
Hahaha, timestamp 1m50s is hilarious

VorpX VR is better than flatscreen, but nowhere near true VR because the depth is emulated via VorpX, instead of simulated via the game. If you have a VR headset you can see the differences easily with a VR-supported game (e.g. Elite): play it on monitor, VorpX, and VR. In a nut-shell, they're 2D, 2.5D, and 3D respectively.
The low FPS and latency-judderiness shows in the recording; I'm amazed he isn't puking.

I noticed the progress on both SQ42 and SC has stopped to a halt. There was barely anything done in the last few weeks. Are they all on deck for building the CitizenCon "demo reel" ?
I honestly can't believe how bad he was at ship combat...pseudo-VR or not. Being chased off by a couple of one shot Cutlass's and a Connie I regularly take out in a Caterpillar isn't displaying any benefits from using pseudo-VRSource: https://youtu.be/LGnBIbAH6Tc

Pity their content is just as imaginary as the the in game content thenI'll give CIG one thing, the roadmaps have fidelity beyond anything I've ever seen in any other game.
Both devteams for Rust and Subnautica have their respective internal Trello boards public for all to see - now that's peak roadmap fidelity.I'll give CIG one thing, the roadmaps have fidelity beyond anything I've ever seen in any other game.

When building a userbase it is useful to be open about what is happening to get/keep people interested. For larger more mature projects it is less useful, and the overhead of updating what is happening on a large project is less worthwhile, especially when the project is attempting to keep surprises for their users. Or you can do like SC do, and make stuff upBoth devteams for Rust and Subnautica have their respective internal Trello boards public for all to see - now that's peak roadmap fidelity.

I get that, but then why not make things up and create imaginary tasks, and give them huge progress figures ?Since there is zero visibility of the actual result in our PCs they can do pretty much whatever they want.
