Can we have more info about Fleet Carriers even if they are delayed please?

Lmao something tells me you don't do this for a living and/or have never written anything more complex than a database front end.

As typical you are one of those folks who thinks simply throwing money at a problem makes it go away.
No, you are the reason people stop playing the game. You keep attacking all criticism and standards to feed your ego. Enjoy the consequences of your actions.

Much as we'd all like to know the answers to these and many other questions I really don't think that will happen until a month before release, when FD will know exactly how FCs will work.

The truth is probably that FD don't 100% know themselves and the 8+ month hiatus now gives them further dev time to nail down these features. If I were cynical (surely not) I might suggest that FCs weren't ready for December and this "bug fix" window was the perfect opportunity / excuse to delay them further...but that would be a very cynical POV.

I'd actually prefer to take their statement at face value...in the end it makes very little difference to the outcome.
Wouldn't it be nice if FDev had some kind of officially supported roadmap that's kept up to date as often as anything changes in development, as well as them telling the community about this shlt?

I simply stated a fact that its not nearly as simple as you make it out to be. 'All they gotta do is just do it.'

You claim it is in fact that simple, which proves you simply have no experience in the matter.

Yes it would. Something like what Microsoft is currently doing with the new Flight Simulator in alpha would be great:

They are going to keep this updated throughout the alpha and beta and up to release sometime next year.

Ironically, I'll be flying in MFS 2020 before Elite Dangerous gets it's next major update. MFS 2020 will have been unveiled, announced, and gone through alpha to beta to release all while Elite Dangerous hasn't gotten barely any updates at all. Holy Frack.

Yes, it would be very nice indeed for Frontier to include the community in what they are doing for the future of the game. I really feel like player confidence would be much higher, which would translate into better store revenue for FD. I just don't see what all the secrecy is needed for, it just seems very non value added for the franchise.

It brings me no enjoyment to say this, none. But they were improving exploration when they coulda been working on your carriers.

If carriers are only gonna be a personal comfort feature, they could honestly just shelf the whole idea.
It won't help the game and the core issues at all.
This game needs to be connected, not just BGS table manipulations.
Player actions need to trigger events and what players do needs to be logically connected.
I have yet to see a gold rush start ingame, without anybody posting here the details,
i have yet to see exploration to create mining missions to prospect areas in preparation
of colonization.

I have yet to see a living breathing galaxy.

Well in our defense, Exploration/mining at the time was in D E S P E R A T E need of a rework of some kind. But this is , it's been 2 years now. How come it takes less than that to crap out "new" ships (alliance series) but fleet carriers=nope?

Lol. I dont care either way but i think its too late for that now. The outrage, peoples pants would ignite. I wonder to myself tho, do carriers really belong in the elite universe. Anacondas had been established as pirate carriers, it was so stupid to dump the old lore.

That was the original carrier wasn't it. We all thought at one point that slf's were going to be sidewinders coming out of anacondas. Id much rather have that actually that something closer to a space station.. anything to give the larger players ships some plausibility would be great.

It took them 4 years to implement that profession, no wonder they cant introduce carriers in 2 years of development.

Implement? I'd call it "changing the dressing" with a mild addition of functions.
Where are the gameplay connections?
No profession really is implemented, it is still beta :D

Agree.
But people say online is the solution to a static game. lol
I'm waiting for the tick for the price to change.

When i said improve i meant completely destroy. In case anybody was in doubt :)

Yeah the clouds are nice and the slugs and such but the lighting isnt and FSS is a punishment.

We have info they released the trailer 2 months ago
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
A trailer for a release in 8-10 months now LOL
Unbelievable

The only reason I was going to start playing again was the massive jump range increase for exploration. I'm not spending hours jumping across a galaxy to see nothing. It's very useful.
The game is still in 'rough diamond' state. After 6 years. High time to call a competent jeweller now. Or better a whole army of jewellers.

That is most certainly the right idea. And they need to put it in for free and show they can do the work long before trying to charge money for another expansion.

The whole tick thing is so 90s. Reminds me of the play by (snail)-mail games I used to play when I was younger. They can stick Carriers for a true economy that is updated with every transaction in my book.

Point taken with the videos, they do show separate ships, it's been a long time since I watched it so I guess I am wrong there, I suppose it had to happen some time!

It still brings up the point of single function setups as mentioned earlier. I've been out for 3 or 6 months exploring, I am now heading back to the bubble because whatever, so I want to make a bit of extra money mining, but I only have an explorer support ship, does this mean I am limited to mining by the ships I carry in my FC, so I fill up my mining ship and that's it? I am stuck in my mining ship until I get back to the bubble and turn in my data. (assuming the exploration setup can't do UC of course). Or alternatively if I have been traveling a long way in my mining ship to find pristine rings and get a lot of data also what advantage does the explorer ship give me?

So should I just go exploring with the mining configuration, does that make more sense, and if it does why have an exploration configuration at all?

Yes, all those questions are why OP started this topic. None of us have any clue what FD is planning, or if they even have a solid plan beyond a vague motion of different roles.
