Full ADMIRAL or KING rank to purchase a Fleet Carrier?

Wouldn't it be a kick of FDev required full ADMIRAL or KING rank to purchase a Fleet Carrier? Discuss. o7
it would be a kick in the coconuts for sure, the same i feel about the lack of small seismic charges in the game

I wonder how many respondents to this thread are only in favour of rank locking the FC behind a Full Admiral or King simply because they have already achieved that level?
every supporter of the idea is my guess.

By the time we get FC's (allegedly) I'll probably have both ranks anyway just by doing missions. Already at 97% past Rear Admiral and 82% past Duke and all I've been doing (since getting the ranks) is picking up missions that offer something interesting.
Now Combat elite on either account - well... I may be pushing up daisies and still not have that particular rank - there is some grind that has no value at all, in my opinion :)

Nah, no rank locks please.

Though, I do have the Imperial rank maxed out so I guess I'd just have to grind the rest of the way to Admiral if they were rank locked.

Not that I actually need or want a fleet carrier.

I am still confused with something - why did the OP feel it necessary to tell us to 'discuss' the topic? Isn't the whole intent and purpose of a forum like this to discuss topic, thoughts and ideas? Isn't the term 'discuss' surplus to requirements?

Yeah I know, just being pedantic but it is one of my pet hates lol

I dont think they should be locked behind power rank locks. If anything they might require having one out of the 4 elite ranks similar to Jameson Memorial/SD.

Attaching them to Admiral/King for the sake of giving those ranks a purpose, then its not much of a valid reason.

Yeah but with the Alliance it's either going to be De Lacy (half finished with loose wires hanging everywhere) or Lakon (huge glazed space resembling a green house)
The loose wires are customization for secret Alliance functions.

The Lakons double as greenhouses for hydroponics

But why? They're not specifically Federation or Imperial Navy ships - just large commercial type vessels.

I could potentially see Admiral or King ranks required to take command of a Capital Ship, if that is ever made an option though.
