Inhabited Generation Ship (The Golconda)

How did realize this ship is still inhabited? I didn't get it from the logs. This might be recorded 100 years ago. Also I do not like the captain's narrative. It sounds not like a captain, but like a kid. "Please, would you like to listen, do not know where to start my speech, excuse me, well, here we go". Is this said by CAPTAIN? Barely believed.
Distress signal was just picked up. Captain talks about sending it....

Distress signal? "One anomaly involved an unexpected call for supplies from the Upaniklis system" -- Dr. Kane. Nobody told about "distress signal" directly :)
I don't want to be pedantic, but yes, it seems you are right. Then, why this generation ship is unlandable for freighters that want to resupply it? Game mechanics, I know. Sadly.
All this story is a kinda weird, if not even fronrierish, you know.

If the CG were "rescue survivors" vs. "Prevent infected carriers from reaching inhabited locations" would you snuff the germ bags or spread the disease? I'd snuff them.

Perhaps the good commanders who are, shall we say, helping control access to the ship are in fact doing the right thing here. It's going to take a while for the people on this ship to adapt to the wider galaxy. Certainly after recent events this is something the big corporations should be staying out direct involvement with as well.

Should there even be any working landing pads that are compatible with todays ships, I wouldn't blame them for keeping them locked down. The culture shock is going to be a big one.

Having watched the quality of the narrators in Paige's livestream, I'd say that is deliberate .... it may be the "captain" is a placeholder while the Security Officer runs the ship with a rod of iron. There may be another twist to this story as it develops later (being optimistic).

Mum? Dad? Up there! Look! There's something outside the dome!

You're right, Son! Husband, what.....is that?

I think Wife.......I think that's a human ship! Looks nice!

Husband, you say that about anything that flies!

Dad, its flashing its lights at us!

Its......its Morse Code, Son! Daddy knows this! ......D.....O......SPACE......wait....I think that ship is asking something!

What is it asking, Husband?

Wait a sec, Wife.......its asking......

What?!

Its asking......."Do you want to buy Arx?"

Arx?! What the heck's that, Husband?! Is it medicine? How many tons can they give us?

Wait love.....another message......now its asking "In your ancient texts, are there any tips on how to build Class 4 Fragment Cannons?"

I'm sitting in between the engine boosters at the rear facing backwards.
I like it that Sol, Sirius and Barnard's Star are showing as directly behind, exactly as you would expect.
Presumably their original destination is somewhere between this location and Sol.
Erin Grey's log states that they left their original destination behind centuries ago.

Yeh, I've had a good nosey about. I figure, whatever their original target, it's been long colonised.
Of course that's assuming that after leaving, they continued in a straight line.
I mean, if they'd decided they didn't want to be found, who knows what direction they've been following.

After all that time in isolation, "Captain" is likely "someone that can read and write unlike the others".

@Bigmaec

I'm sorry, but its far too much coincidence that Erin Grey is on the ship......an actress called Erin Gray is Wilma Deering from Buck Rogers from the 25th century...

That, and we were discussing all things lip gloss here not so long ago....

Is this Erins face? If we go on board is it going to be super retro 80s sci fi?

Ooh ! When I first arrived in the system, I encountered an NPC called Buck Rogers ! At the Nav Beacon.

Edit - I also mysteriously picked up 10 Arx for combat, even though I had not undertaken any combat. I wonder if scanning Buck Rogers .......
