Few would argue that the audio in Elite Dangerous is absolutely top drawer . Everything about it from the music to the engines to the weapons I would say is exceptional.
But for me when talking elite franchise the sound effects which take me right back to being a 12 year old playing in my bedroom on a 14 inch tv (playing instead of doing homework) is from Elite on the amiga..... For some reason it is the sound of the fuel scoop as well as the ECM. Those 2 simple sound effects I doubt I will ever forget and will be able to ID as I go to my grave .
Other ones that stuck is the slightly spooky sound of the wind blowing around your landing pad when on an atmospheric planet in Frontier .
I also wonder how many kids had their 1st into to classical music with elite and the blue Danube.
It is no doubt elite games have left a lasting mark for me more than any other game.
(I admit I am bored baby sitting on a sat morning
)
