The race is over and the preliminary results are in, which take into account all existing submissions. This has been a fascinating race to watch with new and old faces alike pushing hard in their familiar ships and trying new ones, persevering and surpassing their previous efforts. A big thank you and well done to everyone who took part!
In Regulation Hauler first place goes to CMDR Bob Dubrovnik in the
Hypergolic with a time of 25:20. Congratulations on a win and in your first BRC event! In second place, a late charge by CMDR Ozric in
The Littlest Hobo was not enough to take the lead but a time of 25:35 is not far off. In joint third, there is CMDR Captain-MD with his early benchmark time of 25:43, equalled on the final day by CMDR Bruski in the
Lazarus. Nice flying! Another late effort saw CMDR Beth Johanson in the
Haulin' Arx move up a place into 8th with a time of 28:39. With reports of obscured jumps in both directions on the final day, these new times are certainly an achievement but everyone who completed a time in the Regulation Hauler has done well, with its heat and fuel challenges.
In Unlimited, first place goes to CMDR Shaye Blackwood in the Imperial Courier
Fireball with a time of 15:54. Congratulations and again the first place goes to a newcomer to Buckyball Racing Club events, showing us that we still have a thing or two to learn! Almost a minute ahead of his closest opposition, CMDR Shaye Blackwood showed expert corkscrew approaches to each waypoint and a clear familiarity with outpost landing pads, wasting almost no time in setting down with very smooth pad touchdowns. (I do hope you'll consider revealing your videos for your best times in both your Imperial Courier and your Asp Explorer). In second place is CMDR Bruski in his Hauler,
Lazarus, with a time of 16:53. CMDR Bruski and several others showed that the Hauler was a good match for this course in Unlimited as well and this time demonstrates its traits of jump range, speed and manoeuvrability. In third place is CMDR Shaye Blackwood's entry with his Asp Explorer,
Caranwen, with a time of 16:57 achieved with one of the few anti-clockwise runs of the race. The often drifty Asp was flown with great aplomb, handling the attitude and speed with great care to ensure smooth pad touchdowns. The highest-placed new entry on the final day was another Hauler, the
WubWub, flown by CMDR Pigletslastand, one of two XBox CMDRs who entered the race. His time of 17:29 placed him in a highly-respectable fifth. Another fast time achieved with not long to spare was from CMDR Sulu in his Imperial Courier
Anabasii Celeste, with the culmination of much practice over the week being rewarded with a time of 17:39, placing him in seventh. CMDR Stern Winter likewise made a last effort to improve in his Hauler
Yellow Avalanche and along with CMDR Alec Turner who made a final day run in his DBX
Bananery Fandango, the two both achieved a time of 17:58, tying for tenth place. There were new entries from CMDRs Raiko and Aken B., with CMDR Aken B. finishing with a time of 18:51 in his Cobra MkIII
Lapse of Reason, just three seconds ahead of CMDR Raiko's Asp Explorer
The Nomad, both Buckyball regulars struggling to find time to run but with good first attempts.
These leaderboards are preliminary but if no new submissions are received then they will become final at midnight. I will confirm them tomorrow and update the leaderboards then, if required.
With this race over, the next event in the schedule is Total Recall 3, which will be hosted by CMDR Bruski from Dec 14-21st 3305. We hope to see you again soon!
Fly fast! o7
