Saddest message while playing in open

I think the saddest message I saw was the pirate who said he wouldn't be able to feed his kids after scanning my hold.
Well, up until the message telling his kids that I'd made them orphans.
I wish I had a screenshot, seconds before I killed an npc, a msg appeared about just wanting to feed his kids.
I've always wondered (according with the lore) if pirates die or if they "respawn" in stations with the rebuy too. I've never found escape pods after destroying them, but I also know that there's no escape pod for players too.
FDEV should introduce NPC ones in the aftermath USS's or in combat zones for players interested in rescue activities.

Its a shame most people can't enjoy open and explore this amazing game.

One can still enjoy this game without playing in Open.
One can still play in Open and not enjoy exploring.

:)

(I play mostly in Open and I find exploring to be traumatizing.)

The more I play in Open, the more I am reminded how limited my perspective is. That is a good thing. For example, if someone had asked me, why I was in a Dolphin in a ganker system, I would have burst out laughing. I fly into a CZ in Open in a FDL, and quite often, if there happens to be a human Commander there, they flee from me as if I were a horrible infectious disease. And in reality, I am an old lady of 54 whose ships are mostly named, "FluffyBunny".

At first I was deathly afraid of Open; but now, the longer I play in Open the more comical it seems. People are really wonderfully weird and can be entertaining in the most astonishing ways. Human caprice is never to be underestimated.

Yet apart from those 'elite Commanders' who hang around DZ, Engineering sites etc looking for meaningful (cough cough) PvP, one rarely sees another hollow square/triangle.

While not quite at populous as it's peak, I still regularly encounter players outside of such areas.

After all, isn't that why there are so many posts begging for Open to be given special compensation (extra rewards for playing the game in Open basically), all the derogatory name calling of anyone who doesn't play in Open (cowards, carebears etc) is just a blatant plea to get more people in Open?

It should probably have crossed your mind that these posts are not necessarily representative and that applying such statements to those who have not made such statements is an over generalization.

I think explore in the more general sense was being referred to.

they flee from me as if I were a horrible infectious disease.

'Slange' does sound rather pathogenic.

Bit like Mobius then :D

Yet making sweeping statements is par for this forum. Look at how many 'carebear', 'hiding in Solo', 'All white knights say the game is perfect' statements are quoted as fact....

Works both ways mate :D

I can't comment on Mobius. A more limited Open doesn't really appeal to me and I've never been part of that group.

In what way does being equally wrong in the opposite direction and then doubling down on hypocritical over generalizations 'work'?

I also reply to NPCs sometimes.

As for the message in the OP...dude? Why is it strange to ask someone why they are in a ganker hotspot in a dolphin? He was half doing you a favour to inform you, and that's the saddest thing? You need to play this game more, I've seen much sadder things.

I tried to reason with this guy who wasn't sure about whether to go through with getting married, he also seemed to have not yet written his vows.

He kinda ignored me which I found a bit rude. Wonder if he went through with it in the end.

I once vented my space toilet in the path of sightseeing dolphin. Captain called it an 'unforseen delay' when my mammoth frozen captains logs mass locked him

I'm sure those kids have a mother.

Same can be said about Open, especially those that quote the following:

I encounter other players reasonably often flying around in the core. Same for the Colonia region.

Being attacked is also extremely rare, and when I am avoid rebuy screens by outfitting properly and employing evasive skills. I guess I'm flying around in the Elite Commander version of open, huh?

After 22 weeks of in game time on my first account I have seen where the gankers hang and perform their seal clubbing practices, and yes I do believe this cmd was trying to help me as he did not attack and as I was on a newer account though I was just a beginner.

In the original Elite I always used to scoop up pirate's escape pods and sell them into slavery. Similar on Skyrim, if someone randomly attacked me they would be captured into a soul crystal and made into an enchanted weapon to be displayed at my home.

I think i have issues.....

When I first started playing, I would talk to NPCs... until I realized that they were NPCs. 🙄
I think that some of the voices, in my head, are NPCs.

There is one, that keeps trying to tell me that I am flying a top of the range ship. Another just keeps whispering, the same word over and over again, louder and louder; kill, Kill KILL!

True story:-

Decided to visit the Bug Killer site in my Corvette, on the way back from getting DD5s for it.
Landed on the surface.
I get a message from somebody saying "Is your Anaconda armed?"
I replied "No, it's an exploration ship"

Next thing I know, there's an AspX shooting at me with, presumably, a pair of C1 pulse lasers or something.
I take off, knock out his shield, melt his hull down to about 5% and then stop shooting.

I get a message saying "U SED U HAD NO WEPS!!!!!"
I replied "Dude, this isn't my Anaconda"

😐
This guy wins.

LOL! Great story!

This reminds me of that Pink Panther movie where Peter Sellers asked a hotel owner "Does your dog bite"? "No". <Peter Sellers gets bitten> "I thought you said your dog does not bite?" hotel owner: "That is not my Dog".

Great stuff! :)

I would be terrified of a player in an FdL called FluffyBunny even in a non PvP private group.

Its the ones in ships named Destructor or Slayer that don't bother me.

A cmd asked why are you in a Dolphin in a ganker system like this.

Its a shame most people can't enjoy open and explore this amazing game.
Dolphin is a ship I have never flown but I do think it can be made to be survivable like most all ships can.

Try this build : https://s.orbis.zone/54p3

And you also need the right tactics, minimize enemy time on you by turning and flying towards him, and high wake at earliest time.

This has 800MJ shields and is maneuverable at 600ms and a small ship to boot, you should have no trouble evade/escape in this.
