Seems strangely cheap.Tested in the Beta just now, picking up a fighter bay, a crew pilot (Harmless-rated), setting them as active crew, launching my ship and self-destructing. This is what the rebuy screen looks like:
![]()
The rebuy cost is 20% of the 15,000 credits I paid for the pilot initially. Crew appeared safe and sound in the active crew roster after finishing with the rebuy screen, will have to be set active again, of course. So far, no problems.
I have evidence this is indeed the case:I'd imagine the NPC's picture and Bio are quasi randomly generated, by that I mean their picture will be the result of a randomly generated string containing the parameters to feed into the holome CMDR creation engine,
Oh well, and i was planning to level a second slf crew as backup.
Not anymore.
Yeah, 150,000cr is peanuts for an Elite SLF pilot.I still feel like it should be... more? Significantly, especially for an Elite crew member.
That's way cheap. I just don't get why they ping-pong between extremes. First they are iron-man mode dead, because loss should be consequential, then they cost less than a few tons of platinum to replace. Seriously. I like 5% of lifetime earning or 100% hire price whichever is more. You been with this pilot from the beginning of your empire? You're going to pay to get them back, but you can get them back. Someone you hired yesterday... pretty cheap really.
Lifetime earnings shouldn't play any role in crew rebuy cost - since the said crew has no role in exploration, trading, mining or combat in which they did not participate.
It's about making the re-buy of some consequence, they didn't actually fly for me either. 150,000 for an elite SLF pilot for anyone not in their first month playing is pocket change and means there is no consequence to the loss.

Who is really looking for consequences should not tick the rebuy checkbox.

Maybe a slight reduction in their combat rating. 10% down from wherever they are - from Elite to 90% Deadly, for example.Consequences have to apply wether I want them to or not.

You know, lots of head trauma in explosions.
I'm glad. This just might, might stop one or two people from combat logging in the future.Consequences have to apply wether I want them to or not.
