Buyback NPC Crew

Here's the thing. I always thought of those Search and Rescue ships as a bunch of altruistic heroes trying to save everyone who was stranded, blasted out of the sky, or whose ship just up and died on them.

Now I'm thinking of them as a bunch of grizzled, competitive guys with partly exposed arx-cracks who are gouging CMDRs for a sweet deal on a rescued crewmate. The unclaimed ones? I don't even want to think about those guys. But images of Thargoids are flocking in my head.

I just found this! Looks legit according to the BETA screenshot.
Anyone else test this out? Awesome, awesome, awesome if it's true!

Uhmm, this is about the announcement of buy crew back, isn't it? If so, this was announced on the second page of the topic. Then people started to complain it's too cheap, every defeat should has consequences, what a game is, meaning of playing and meaning of life etc. and now we're on page eight

Just cross pollinating this subject

For those looking for aesthetically pleasing NPC crew members, you do know if you hire and immediately terminate the contract of the 'Harmless' candidate the station personnel bureau refills the slot with another candidate. So it is quite possible to get multiple candidates you just have to pay the interview expenses until you find the right one.

I go through 15-20 before I can find a nice lady or a dude with a funny name

(y)

The only bad part of the process is that, one has to take them out to actually hear what they sound like so if you want one with a particular accent too it takes a bit longer. 🗣

Q.O.L. - Have the COVAS voice actors do the SLF Crew dialogue and allow us to apply it.

I looked everywhere after seeing that Reddit post. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. Must have missed it.
Anyway, I'm super glad for this. "Easy" or not, if I can miraculously survive ship destruction so should my crew.
X.

For those who want realism, 1% of 1% of us would be starship pilots while the rest of us are dirt farmers and office workers.
Not what I want in a game.

That's actually a good point.

Q : What's the payout if you save an NPC in a Search & Rescue Signal Source?
A : 2500Cr - and a song about you when they get back to port ;)

So with that in mind, 150.000Cr (tops) for getting your NPC Crew recovered seems in line for all I can tell.
(an Occupied Escape Pod delivered to SAR Services AFAIK also is just some 20-25k, right?)

I have many ships, many credits and Miranda, my elite npc crew. I wanna take some action with my vette, cutter or even krait in open. I don't care about losing my ship or credits but Miranda...

I hired her when she was harmless and raised her patiently until she is elite. Not to mention I took at least 80 candidates out of the job interview until I found her.

Why can't I buy it back with my ship when my ship destroyed? Do I have to fly with an expert crew or no-slf ships in open? Why ?.. 😒
100% - could not have said it better.
