Due to a raising of arguments of "why is feature A or B from the pictures not in the DLC!?" from a thread here, and before it expands further beyond that, I feel like I must putt his out here right now. Because, you need to understand that what was shown in the event where people played them early was an early developer build, the screens actually say so, and not the full content DLC itself. You must take consideration that, again, everything you just saw in that build of the game and DLC was not the final version, it's like a play testing session. So before you use any hyperbole statements, you gotta also think that at nine times out of ten it's not actually someone with malicious or brain-dead intents, there's a deeper and more reasonable reason as to why this is currently that. And mistakes can happen to, and when they are, that's all they are.
I've been following and understanding Frontier Developments' post-release development of this particular game since last year, and I can tell you all already, they don't ever show and say something to the entire public that's coming up and then just remove them for good. They always confirm what is there or not in the current given time they post their postings with such confidence that those features will be this or not this.
Oh no! Logic! The enemy of the irrational. I think Frontier does a little more harm than good by showing things this way. Of course it's not their fault, it's the fault of the people who decide to act like they just saw a finished product. I saw a screen cap of a post from BIS on the JWE subreddit and he said that what he and the others were shown at the event was an early dev build of the DLC. I posted a video a while back where the person said that when they went to one of the first JWE events they saw frontier working on the Ford Explorer. They couldn't say anything cause of a NDA. By first event I believe he means one of the events before the game was launched. So that would be all the way back in June of last year, basically over a year ago. So Frontier has been working on this DLC for a while.
People should keep that in mind. Maybe it would be better if Frontier didn't show anyone anything till they were ready to release. Then people will whine about how Frontier doesn't tell them anything. People keep begging for Frontier to tell them more about the game and what they have planned. Then when they do they just whine and complain about it. It's really ridiculous.
If you don't trust Frontier and the DLC then wait till it gets released and decide then. But there isn't any point in trying to whip up an outrage mob.
Yes. The problem is, basegame suffered similar issues, with plenty of videos running around YT by early accessers and trailers with supposes 'in-game footages' only to launch months or weeks later exactly in that way: shallow, boring and unbelieveably over-prized
I watched plenty of the videos made by YouTubers when they went to play the game in California and I don't remember seeing anything in those videos that wasn't in the game.
You find the game shallow, boring and over priced are all personal opinions. I thought the game was fun, not nearly as shallow as people say it is and it was priced pretty well and I bought the deluxe version for $60 so I could get the extra dinosaurs.
The problem is that you had expectations for things that Frontier never promised. Then when you don't get what you think you should get you blame frontier. When in reality you are the one to blame. Just like all these people that hype themselves up for features in the game or DLC's that Frontier never promised and they turn into toxic whining man children.
They told us nothing happens when the pteranadons break out.
Compys have no attacks on anything
The mesh for compys is just for looks
The raptor pen had limited to no function outside of the first mission
The isla sorna map sucks
There arent many new buildings
No mixing of eras
No entering the visitor center
No raptor climbing or new animations seen
No breeding
That's all the negative or disappointing things they brought up that i can think of off the top of my head. So it's not like they said everything was amazing and didn't tell us honestly what they know we arent getting. I dont get what your problem is with them.
Most of those aren't even a big deal. The raptor pen wouldn't work in the game and it didn't even look like an exhibit in the movies. It looked like a weird prison. How would people even see the raptors in that? In the novel there was no "raptor pen". The raptors were kept in a regular paddock. I think that makes more sense. The whole raptor pen idea from the movie was really dumb when you think about it.
Going into the vistor center shouldn't even be on the list cause it should not have been expected. This a park builder and not some kind of first person exploration game. If you want to see inside the visitor center then go watch the movie or play one of the many fan made "games" where you could just walk around and explore the visitor center. If you are disappointed that you can't enter a building in a game where that isn't even an option then the blame is all on you and not frontier.
