1993 DLC Observations - VERY EARLY - Only from Campaign Mode (SPOILERS)

  • Nostalgia value is, of course, uncountable-unmeasurable;
  • Love the voice actors being back;
  • Young Cabot is making me feel all wrong in the right places;
  • Lack of John Williams OST makes me sad;
  • When driving the rangers now I feel a sense of dread-tension, which I LOVE;
  • LOVE that everyone hates Finch, no matter how daddy he looks;
  • New Missions, unlike Claire's sanctuary, are not obnoxious but it does feel they're there just to, you know, introduce the content - more challenge would have been nice;
Possible Points of Improvement:
  • Just having Mr DNA for the new UI is lame. A new colour scheme is an inexpensive, effective way of further differentiating the experience (yellow-orange-brown?);
  • Geothermal Stations HAS to be buffed. 4 upgrade slots and 90 power output seem fair, increase price too;
  • Only one arrival per island is 50% correct - for balance, I guess BUT If the Helipad IS the hatchery, then we need to be able to buy more than one + extra upgrade slots;
  • Where in TARNATION are the traditional "don't touch" signs on electric fences & the twin blue-orange lights with alarm sound?
  • Ranger Jeeps are damaged from collisions (incl dino collision, which will actually be considered an attack) - which is cool, but then, why aren't the trees causing collisions? Or guests?
  • Buildings need more balance for the 1993 style, one still feels limited;
  • Change the "dart rifle" to "rifle" - not firing only darts anymore, is it?
  • Signs could become "interactive", in the sense that those without writing could be customised by allowing some writing to appear, by renaming them. After all, they're already a new category of decorations;
  • Isla Sorna map is very difficult - but for some reason, intriguing;
  • SO. MUCH. CLIPPING. Please, make it stop;
  • A Visual Upgrade to the Visitor's Centre when you construct the 3 Operations modules would be nice;
  • Interesting that the "classic" skins have a NEGATIVE rating, rather than a positive one, at least in Campaign mode 93;
  • GIVE US THE FULL DINOSAUR AND RESEARCH ROSTER

I have watched a few of the videos YouTubers uploaded. It looks good but I do feel a bit disappointed that we didn't get a whole new UI. I haven't played it yet. I am still stuck in the Claire's Sanctuary DLC. I am trying to get 5 stars on the island to unlock the JW tour. After that I will be moving onto the new DLC. Another few hours of playing should do it.

Getting to play the JP DLC will help drive me along. lol

The problem with this DLC is that it features a number of small things, mistakes even, that could have easily been avoided and cheapen the whole package. Like, you're going with the nostalgia gun, why are you firing some blanks when using the actual rounds won't cost you a thing?

just got back from work, and i agree with some of these points. geothermal needs a buff. and in JP era only 25 dinos can be incubated as opposed to the JW full roster. Though i haven't yet opened sandbox or challenge. if the 25 dino limit is only in the campaign then i am okay with it. but if in challenge and sandbox it is the same then i will be sad. wanted to mix together JW raptor skins and 2001 raptors with TLW.

hmmm i read a comment in the patch notes that in JW era all skins and models are usable. is this true? because if so then the only way for you to enjoy all dino model and skins together would be to always play in JW setting. which i don't wanna do right now.

That doesn't invalidate the point that JP era players are effectively disadvantaged because of silly design choices. This is a game: I want my cake and eat it too.

Ok, so now I'm annoyed: WHERE is my PALEOBOTANY? And don't say that the building discrepancy wouldn't work - you're allowing the JP aviary in the JW era, instead of using the JW aviary design.
Also, where are my Dr Wu upgrades, and a full research profile, in Challenge Mode?

The era appropriate dinosaur restriction seems a bit silly for challenge mode. For the campaign it's fine to restrict it as such, but for challenge mode?
And besides even if we agree that there should only be era appropriate dinosaurs in the roster. There are still a number of dinosaurs missing. Edmontosaurus for one. As we know for sure it was present on Sorna during the Lost World as there is a skull visible in the rex nest.
And if we consider other games that might be soft canon there are a bunch more dinosaurs missing from the roster. There is good reason to say that Albertosaurus, Troodon, Homalocephale, Carcharodontosaurus and Acrocanthosaurus should all be present as well.

it is a matter of player freedom. you think universal or frontier are going to keep supporting the game long after JW3 is out in theaters? think far not short.

I'm also extremely annoyed that my Dr Wu upgrades, such as failed hatchery etc are not present where needed, IE challenge mode 1993. Seriously Frontier, what gives?

Haven't played the DLC yet but I have watched a few videos about it. Everything looks really good. But I can't believe they didn't put the high voltage warning signs on the fences. Also there is a driver in a tracked tour vehicle. Why? lol It makes no sense.

I hope they fix these issues down the road. The high voltage signs should be there. Also the fences don't look a whole lot like the JP fences. I can deal with that.

That's what I mean by "mistakes" - erroneous design decisions that no one understands.

My game keeps crashing upon returning from Isla Sorna :( Anyone experiencing the same? I play on PS4... Feels a bit like I got ripped off, payed 20eur for a DLC that isn't even playable. And, I would really like to see the 'do not touch' signs and blue and orange lights on the fences haha. Apart from that, nice DLC

They are minor. They can be fixed. I would go ape feces about it though like I am sure some people are. The night vision seems cool. The Rx skins are killer, it's shame they mixed them up though, but whatever.

Another gripe I have is that in the sandbox mode it seems like the entry point for the park is those stupid entry points we saw on Nublar North. That awesome looking helipad should be what is used as an entry point in the sandbox. You know the cool looking building where you can see guests sitting around at tables and things. But it's minot and hopefully the can change it.

Another issue is that they locked two of the skins in challenge mode. Why do this? It's annoying. I barely have time for the game. Challenge mode is out of the question.

Prepare to be disappointed. They didn't put them on there. lol

They don't look right without those warning signs.
