Planet Zoo - Update 1.1.0 coming 17 December

Great! The slider sounds like it could be an amazing fix for the time issue. I really appreciate the devs changing that. Now we just need it changed so the zookeepers fill up all food/water in the exhibits and habitats and i'll be able to play the game again.

Great update, looking forward to it! While everyone else talk about time and heat maps I am thinking "finally!!" about the relation of the animals. Now I do not have to guess, keep track of mating, and write down "cryptic" codes in their names! :D That is going to be a great relief. I may also play at slightly delayed time too, in particular in large zoos with lots of animals. In small zoo I am actually more ok with as it is now. I guess it was a thing of getting used to it!

Looking forward to peafowl tail too, and the aurora borealis (now if my compy will manage it I will have to check, if not I will look at it and then change back).

Question:
Will broken items be added to the heat map so we can spot them, or at least get a feel of the worst area?
This is good timing as I has gotten somewhat fed up with the madness of my large "challenge" zoo (basically sandbox but with moolah as I like it that way. I want some "game" as well. Even if it is easy going now what with me having a load of money.) with the time and the keeping track of genealogy.

I'm really excited for the Update. Especially for the Social-Updates and what was shown on the Picture on Instagram 😉
I also like the slower Aging even though I like it more if the Years and Animal aging are synchron. But I can understand it being a bit difficult to make the Years slower too

Honestly, the time for me is just the number in the right bottom corner. I don't care if my zoo is 50 or 150 years old. The aging slider is a very good solution to satisfy both sides. It's not going to affect the gameplay unless people want it to which is great!

One question, regarding the feature which will allow us to disable specific alerts.
What about animals that are on pills and inbreeding? Is this intended behaviour or bug?
Because i would like to disable alerts when animals try to inbreed when they are on pills but would like to have an alert if they are not on pills?

This all sounds really really good! Right now there are only 2 things I really wish for:

1. Please add the ability to choose the length of the day/night cycle just like in JWE. It's too fast for me.

2. Please add information on minimal food cost per animal to the zoopedia. It would be nice to be able to know before buying an animal how much the food will cost approximately.

I really hope the team will consider this!

The reason it's not possible to simply "change the in-game time" is because so many systems rely on each other, so we'd inevitably create a balancing nightmare and introduce many game-breaking bugs for our players. Slow Animal Aging is a step towards giving you the control over time in your games, without ruining it for everyone else who's fine with things. It's a great solution our dev team have come up with!

Ah I see,

So how did you do this on JWE? I LOVE the option in that game to choose the length of the day/night cycle. Perhaps you could add an option that just changes the visual aspect of the day/night cycle but not necessarily the actual in-game time? I don't really care how many years have passed, but I do wish the visual cycle itself would be slower.

This is the patch I've been wishing for. Thank you, Frontier.
I will be happy to call PZ my game of the year now.
Edit: well there is that little nitpick of in-game time mismatching the age of the animals but if that's the only way to do it then no need to dwell on it ^^.

You mean more time until things happen like broken ATMs, Power and Water treatments? If yes, I think too that this would be nice, especially with bigger zoos. To turn the notifications off doesn't mean it's not happening anymore, you just don't get a notification. These two things combiend the animal age and to slow down happenings in your zoo would be equal with the wish people have to slow down time even when years pass still fast... this wouldn't be much of a problem for me either. So I like your idea... maybe Frontier can do that in a later update.

Quality updates for the game and I am sure the slower agent will make a lot more people happy. Next year I am sure is going to be even better if there are more updates like this and I imagine a number of new animals coming to the game.

So happy about this. So damn happy about this. I stopped playing weeks ago for this reason, as I never really cared about nothing. Got tired of mass producing animals pretty fast, unfortunately.

Been waiting for this fix since forever. Can't wait for the 17th, and I'm definitely snatching the DLC as well!

EDIT:

Now that the age of the animals won't match the in-game time... Keeping in mind I would probably play at the slowest possible setting, the 'year' count is probably going to be quite high. Hate to see that a Zoo is +1,000 years. Just being picky.

Wish I could hide that somehow. Nothing that a little bit of duct tape won't fix!

Please do not use marketing lingo to dress up this patch as the “Free update”. 90% of it addresses issues raised since the beta. The last patch added more issues and bugs.
The only reason they're mentioning it's free, is so that people don't have to ask whether they have to pay for it. If they did not mention it, loads of people would start asking whether it's paid or not - the mention of "free" is only for clarity.

So excited for this update! Really good new features. Also the arctic expansion pack. Awesome.

Regarding zoo info panel- can you please add a donation breakdown by species? That would help us to really see the financial impact of adding enrichment, increasing welfare, adding new animals.

Thanks Frontier! I hope that you would soon announced update or DLC with polar animals like polar bears or penguins. It would be awesome.
Penguins! Hopefully the polar bears swim for the underwater viewing areas. I remember when I was younger playing Zoo Tycoon and I liked the marine animals pack and the sea lion such.

Penguins are my favorite animal.
