❄ Planet Zoo: Arctic Pack coming 17 December ❄

on one hand I'm excited- I love the sound of the new animals and the items and scenarios. on the other I'm not very pleased with the idea that the game is still buggy (and unplayable in quite a few cases) and a paid dlc is already being released. I'm worried about the big update because it's just gonna either 1) not fix things the way they need to be fixed/not fix them at all and/or 2) introduce many new bugs. I'm worried that all the time that could've been used on bug fixes was used on this, and that will continue to be the way things go from here on out. and I'm like. idk. side-eyeing here

I would not hesitate to buy the pack if the game was running better and the updates had been more frequent and successful in actually IMPROVING things, but as is I don't think I'll be getting it.

That sounds great but I`m hoping for a little bit more because in the artic are living over 75 animals not only 4 ;) But we don`t have to pay always 10 Euro for 4 more animals in the future, right? Now one thing would be perfect: a big DLC for all the Planco fans for christmas with 5 kiddie rides, 5 other rides and 200-300 new Scenery pieces, walls etc
A Western Set 2.0 with indians would be also great and at least please please a shuttle function for the transport rides and a railroad crossing, also for Planet Zoo...

Please give us new "feed" so that we can continue playing Planet Coaster, don`t forget the game
Slightly off topic:
Now that I think about it....I haven't seen an update for Planet Coaster for a while? Have they halted updates while they play with their new game? Maybe I've just missed them.... 🤔

I will not pay AUD$15 for this pack (AUD price hasn't been announced, just guessing based on conversion rates) and also I still won't pay AUD$10 for this pack. While I'm curious about the building theme, not much is shown so I'm not excited about it, it could be a lot of small useless pieces that I never use. I'm sure it has a few beautiful pieces that I would love to use, but I'm more interested in the animals and this pack in my opinion is a huge disappointment.
We already have wolves that require a cold/snow biome.
We already have bears that require a cold/snow biome that spend a lot of time in water.
How will the arctic wolf and polar bear be any different to the timber wolf and grizzly bear apart from being white? (I will ignore the fact that the current timber wolves should already have coat variations that include a white coat and I understand the polar bear will have a new model) Have you included diving coding for the polar bear? My guess is no. And if you have, I'm a little annoyed the diving coding is part of dlc and not a free update that allow crocs to dive.

The dalls sheep and caribou are nice but also, meh. Not strong enough animals to stand on their own in DLC when I'm disappointed about the other two animals.

You will probably still get my money Frontier, but only when the dlc go on sale at 50% off, which is what I personally value this pack at.
Honestly I'm disappointed at this DLC at it's price point. But I'm mainly disappointed because I think there is more that should have been added in free updates to the base game that I paid AUD$80 for that I would have preferred before a paid DLC, such as natural coat variations for animals we currently have, better animal behaviour such as babies staying close with their mother, another much-needed life stage between baby and adult, starting maps with terrain variation. I could go on. The main game is lacking much that should have already been there.
My opinion.

I'm really excited for the Arctic Pack and have a few Questions.

-Will we see Pictures from the other Animals too before it is released?

-Does the Model/Fur length of the Arctic Wolf differ from the Wolf that is already in the Game?

-What is meant with Mild Blood in the Bottom right Corner of this Picture? Is there some kind of Update for carnivorous Animals?

Someone's angry. Good on ya lass. 🤣 👏

I agree on the animals. The sheep and wolf are just meh. I don't mind the Reindeer and Polar Bear though...Although I'm still a bit unsure about the Polar Bear as we already have two Bear species. But I think It was a highly requested animal so.

Each currency is just getting higher and higher yet the UK seems cheapest at £8. 😅 $15 is a heck of alot more than GBP, EUR and USD. An extra $5 is alot. Jesus. I'd wait til it's on sale. 😕

Great to hear! I can't wait to get polar bears into my zoo as the new feature attraction! Thanks for all the work and getting this out just in time for the holidays!

Paid DLC when the game just released a month ago sure puts a sour taste in my mouth
Guess I'll just wait for when the dlcs go on sale then

I don't know what to think about this. The game is still buggy with base mecanics still very jiffy, unstable... unplayable for some. UI still non-coherent and not uniform.... now more content ? Paid content while base game feels like a beta... I'm real sorry guys, I can't share the enthousiast. I would have prefered an email with a patch note that would have me open the game again than ads for a DLC...

I think the problem with releasing DLC to please 3 different types of players is this. If you're only interested in animals, 4 isn't enough for paid DLC. If you're only interested in the scenery objects, show us more so we can see if it's special (yes, I'm in this group). If you're only interested in the scenarios, 2 isn't enough to pay for - yes I know you need the rest of the pack for the scenarios to work so the Career people might be the happiest, but they'll plow through 2 scenarios pretty quick. There aren't many players that will be interested in all three. Some will of course, and I'm sure we'll hear from them below soon enough, but I hear an awful lot of $10 for 4 animals kinda shock here.

I like playing career modes in games and am interested in what happens in the 2 new scenarios. I would also like to see the full breakdown of the new 200 construction/scenery items. Hopefully there will be more information closer or on release. I'm sure there will be creators on YouTube doing rundowns of the introduced items.

As for the DLC release being so close to the game release I can see where people are a little angry about that. I've never had some of the major issues others have had, but being unable to load the game or losing a zoo to a corrupted save file just to see a DLC pop up for sale can be frustrating. It also brings the question of whether or not the content was removed from the base game just to make a winter pack, something that several players are currently talking about in the forums.

I certainly agree that paying extra for a couple of scenarios I don't give a toss about is a bit of a bummer; really wish I could just buy the scenery and animals separately. I would probably be ok with the price if it was a few $ less and didn't include the scenarios.

That said, I'm not overly impressed with their choice of animals. The wolf is the biggest offender as it's probably going to use the exact same model with a different texture. Why did the original timber wolf not have a white variant skin? Was it held back just to pad out this DLC? The polar bear will pull very heavily from the current bear assets even if they've tweaked the model. Hopefully it will at least have some new diving animations (but I'm not going to hold my breath).

Now don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see reskins/variations of the animals currently available (malayan tapir, lemurs, leopards, rhinos, etc); more variety is never a bad thing. I just think that said animals are obviously a lot cheaper/easier for them to make, and as such, any DLC containing said animals should be cheaper. Going to have to wait until they release more DLC to work out if they value a reskin animal as much as a brand new model.

I'm really on the fence if I want to buy the DLC - they're once again not offering any of the profits to charity, and the community events still suck despite a tonne of feedback. Honestly, it seems a bit cheeky to slip in a paid DLC so soon, considering the amount of bugs and problems the games had and still has since release. I don't care if said paid DLC has been in the works and planned for months (and wasn't purposely removed content) - a free apology Christmas mini-DLC release would have been considerably better for PR. Even cutting one animal out of the paid DLC and offering it for free would have been an improvement! The 'free' game update is nice, but as far as I can see, it's just fixes to systems and the UI that should have been ironed out before the game launched - I'm certainly not going to shower them with praise for it.

Regarding the wolves, here's an idea I had.

I'd have to agree with Andy in there. Only days until the release, probably far too late to consider switching it to a fox.

It can be done on a later date. Besides, the other 2 suggestions would drastically improve the wolves so the thread is still worth reading.

Not something i'm really enthusiastic about, especially given the current state of the game. So i'll definately will wait on how good the patch itself will be and on further information on how much of the new behaviour is just marketing speech for "We dropped hunger rate for arctic wolves from 0.8 to 0.75 and scaled their heat tolerance down, so they behave differently" instead of actually having behavioural (AI) differences, than just other cut-off points and pictures of how the new stuff actually looks.

@Bo Marit So you now are actually starting to interact with people on the Steam forums contractionary to what moderators are telling people there, our doesn't that count into "all our channels" ?

I can only give 1 like, but you deserve more than 1.

Finally I can make my polar bear habitat in my Blijdorp recreation!

Thanks!! (y) :)

Only downside it's already paid DLC only 6 weeks after release. :(

At least I know what to ask my wife for Christmas :p

Niiice, screenshot from Blijdorp? :)

Anyone else has the problem, that the animals do not fit in the concept of their current zoos? :D I'm afraid I have to have three sandbox projects at once. This will not end good...
