What's your favorite ship in VR?

Does the Viper IV also suffer from this strut problem? I bothers me how many ships have bugs like these that Frontier blatantly ignores forever...

I'm afraid it does. I just checked. Also, I notice something happening in the iCourier cockpit when I retract landing gear - but don't see the top of the landing gear, so not sure what that is.

That said, I love the iCourier, both ship and cockpit. I have five of them! Also, as others have said, both Kraits are really good too. For me, most of the cockpits are good in VR, all the little details that the designers and devs have put in come alive, and it's nice to be able to look over your shoulder and see the rest of the cockpit.

SLFs are some of the most fun in VR, the Courier is also very nice, for a larger ship i really like the Python.

I generally like smaller cockpits, like fighters, where I can almost reach out and touch the walls. Some ships have UI features that makes the ship feel different, like the downsized side panels on the Mamba. If I have to choose a favorite though, it would have to be the Type 7. There is a cathedral-like feel to it that I don't find in any other ship.

The Eagle MK II. Luckily it is also the most maneuverable and one of the fastest ships. Firepower is on the low end, but it can do anything PVE except Thargoids Interceptors (I need to git gud!) and bulk trading.

Which brings me to the humble Type 9 Heavy, which really makes you feel like you are on the bridge of a big hauler (not the ship), with its walkways, doors, lift and stairs.

I also like the Krait (both types), the Mamba, the Guardian SLFs, Sidewinder, Corvette. No EBL on any of them, either.

K.I.S.S. like I did.

EVERY ship is worth it. ;)

The Eagle MK II.
I just got my first Corvette, thanks to the Fed rank buff / ship sale, and after taking it out for a spin, I'm throwing a tarp over it and jumping back into my Eagle. I think this has become my favorite ship to fly in VR. The canopy is just perfect for taking in the sights, and if I join a wing at bounty hunter CGs, I can even contribute in combat scenarios!

For hauling cargo, the Type-7 is my favorite mission runner, and the Type-9 is my favorite bulk hauler. Both have amazing views and feel properly big (for some reason my medium-size Type-7 feels bigger to my than my large Corvette).

It is because the Corvette has such a limited view in comparison, but the 'innards' of the Corvette are very nice in VR too... (Also, surprisingly are the FDL & Mamba, the detail in both in VR is exceedingly good)

I agree on this, even in 2D I much prefer the Cutter's bridge over the Anaconda I got from the junkyard. I know some people like that junkyard look, but I prefer a more clean look to my spaceships. The Lakon ships are an exception, as they aren't dirty, they are utilitarian (like Russian military hardware).

I think the FDL may go from a least favorite ship (I hate that bar in my face in 2D) to a more favorite ship in VR. However, it'll be awhile before I can afford to try one out.

The bar in the FDL isn't so terrible in VR (not that it bothers me in pancake as I use the bar as a reference point) and the 'sunroof' is amazing - I think I prefer the FDL interior against the Mamba, but only just :)

Right now I'm finding the Eagle to be amazing fun in VR combat. I've suggested in the past that people who say NPC combat is boring should ditch their G5 FDLs and use more "humble" ship, and now that I'm doing just that for VR immersion, I'm also enjoying the challenge as well! Power management is a bear on this thing (I have to shut off the FSD to use hard points, for example), and it takes some proper skill to destroy tougher ships with just 3 small hard points. I think the best way to use this little but oh-so-FUN ship is in a wing, so if anyone is doing lawful BH at the CG and sees me in my Eagle, please invite me to your wing :D

PS - The one area in the game where my VR struggles is busy RES sites, where I get that dreaded VR stutter. I much prefer running assassination missions or hunting at a compromised nav beacon for the sake of performance.

The Krait Mk. II wins for me because of all the tiny nerd details only appreciable in VR including this:

Then, the SLF are nice, in particular the Guardian ones. From the 'classic' ships, Eagle/iEagle are my favorites. When I got VR, I was always tempted to grab the cockpit handles.

Viper III/IV got the same (dull) cockpits. Never noticed any gearwork clipping. Adder and Sidey do have that problem, though.

O7,
🙃

I can't really answer this because I've been exploring for a few weeks, so haven't been in my ships for a while, and can't remember some of them that well, plus I've only tried about a half dozen in VR, and maybe only my Anaconda since I bought the HP Reverb. This thread has made me want to get all the ships though, and do a ranking!

I can say even though the Anaconda cockpit is huge, it's not my favorite. Too clinical looking, featureless, and bright.

Python and Vulture might be contenders.

No VR, just 2d with headtracking, but for being able to look around viewpoint: Lakons in general are nice, so are the Kraits and the Imperial Clipper has a surprisingly good view. That ship is a joy to fly if you ignore the large landing pad nonsense and don't care about the pew-pew that much.

I've been thinking of the iEagle as an upgrade to my Eagle, but in 2D I find the JJ Abrams cockpit to be a bit too bright. How does this translate into VR?
I really like it. I learnt FA Off in the iEagle, navigating through the the canyons surrounding Farseer. I now have it as my secondary canyon running ship after my Sidewinder. Yamiks forgot to mention how the sidewinder has the best thruster acceleration of any ship in the game. The Sidewinder engineered is bonkers responsive!
