That's why I don't play the PTU. Best thing for him to do is file a report and reclaim the ship. Hasn't happend to me in the last 3 or 4 patches of the PU. Just saying.

He’s in the live build:

Version 3.7.2-live.3658647

Not that it makes a huge difference. Having a game-breaking bug like this recur constantly for years is suggestive enough.

And it’s just one of many.

This thread was amusing on the sub the other day ;)

I can rephrase that for you: It’s the best tech demo out there, that other space games wish they were!

I am pretty sure very few games wish they were a buggy unfinished tech demo that can barely manage to demo it's tech while continuing to pile on technical debt and setting unrealistic expectations that will only isolate more and more players as they fail to come to fruition.

Even if they are secretly wishing they were, I am openly hoping that all space games new and old avoid getting anywhere near the sort of thing SC is for their sake.

Lolno. As a tech demo, it's not demoing anything new or interesting, and developers of other space games have been in the business long enough to already know the mistakes that CI¬G are blundering their way through — no-one wish to duplicate any of that, or to produce something as shoddy and incoherent.

You can rephrase it all you want, but at the end of the day, SC is nothing but an illustration of things not to do. But even as that, it's pretty worthless since they don't illustrate anything everyone doesn't already know. The whole thing is pretty much the wikipedia antipattern article come to life.

Right about now, people are getting their screenshots ready to prove that SC is the best game out there. Despite the obvious flaw in this plan, get ready for the 'awesome night in SC' show of stills that only reinforce the view that it is all looks and no go. Graphics will only get a game so far if that's all there is.

You forgot nebulous claims to 'fun' and how much of said 'fun' is being had with little detail as to what differentiates that 'fun' to the sort of 'fun' I can have without needing to buy an idris only to discover that the 'fun' comes almost entirely from social interaction with friends which can be had anywhere from Elite Dangerous to your local pub.

Not according to the bug submissions page...

Oh look, this guy just yesterday has no doors anywhere in his ship.

How long has this been a thing again?
I thought Nodoor (sic) was the guy from GoT? Have they archered him too? :p

Pub wins vs any game! :D

"Last Friday, Alpha 3.8 hit the PTU for Wave 1 testers which was followed by a very successful stress test of SOCS. We’ll be looking to open up to Wave 2 soon to continue testing, all the meanwhile preparing for the big release before we break for the holidays! The release of 3.8 will kickstart a handful (this is a pun – you just don’t know it yet!) of in-game seasonal activities. Keep your eyes peeled for more info coming soon! "

Snowball fights for Christmas

some of those are pure gold :)

Known Issues
  • Players are unable to land in hangar 2 at Lorville.
  • The Lancet mining laser will fire straight down when equipped to the Prospector.
  • If the quantum travel marker is at the edge of a moon or planet they can QT through the moon and explode.
  • Party launch is currently not functioning.
  • The buttons on the Fine and Citations kiosk can frequently not respond to the player's interaction.
  • There's a chance the enemy AI in the hijacked 890 mission will not react to the player.
  • Personal transport beacons do not broadcast.
  • The Vanguard Sentinel is incorrectly named Harbinger on ASOP and comms channel.
  • Carriable mission items can fall through flooring.
  • Purchased commodities will often visually not appear in the ship's hold.
  • Carriable boxes may fall through the flooring.
  • Players may experience stalls in performance shortly after loading into Star Marine and firing weapons.
  • NPC beacon notifications will sometimes display an incorrect distance.
  • AI ships can often get stuck in the middle of their motion and not advance further.
  • AR makers for enemies can sometimes be seen through walls in Star Marine.

Snowball-throwing gameplay could be easily implemented using the existing grenade-throwing mechanics.

Considering the shoddy implementation of said grenade-throwing mechanics, snowball-throwing should provide a plethora of hilarious broken-physics gifs.

As the official message highlighted the "handful" pun, I expect we'll see "wrapped present" box-carrying, "reindeer" poo-harvesting, and "mistletoe" mining gameplay for the xmas holidays, with those mechanics being at least partially functional and borderline stable.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if there's an event specific to the new Mule ship, to supplement the existing marketing strategies in convincing whales to buy it. FOMO has to be pushed.

Don't go dissing my Mole ship now

It's not really a fuss my dear Mole - it's just that some of those erm, "gameplay elements" have been in a non-performant state since before they were even introduced.

Yet, CI-G keep piling on the shiny.
Yup..and I bet they're getting sick of my few hundred IC reports telling them my pirate Caterpillar skin still ain't right too...as well as IC reports on most of the bugs on that list since some of them have birthdays already. They also added a voluntary regression testing form for this patch...which is more of an Evocati thing than PTU...but it's been added as an optional and voluntary testing focus for all 1st wave testers. As for this patch, it seems evocati were too busy happy slapping eachother at Grim Hex to do much testing...3.8 isn't really an ordinary PTU in any case since it's entire focus is on stress testing the first effort at SSOCS rather than run of the mill stuff like additions or bug fixes...we can all fly about and just try to break the build in as many ways as we can.

Regression testing form

But...it's the way of Star Citizen PTU...they add some stuff, break some stuff and some old stuff gets rebroken from working...and the 30k errors are crippling
